The Prime Minister, the Cabinet of Ministers and the State Chancellery received 1660 applications altogether from individuals and legal persons, concerning issues of education, demography and society’s integration.

Collectors of photos with world leaders’ signatures were sent 57 photos of Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis along with his signature. Most photos were sent to collectors from Russia, Germany, Ukraine and China. Some photos ended up in the hands of local collectors.

In total, the Prime Minister, Cabinet of Ministers and the State Chancellery received 1660 applications from individuals and legal persons in the first six months. 1537 of those applications were addressed to the Prime Minister and the government. Most of them were received in February, April and May. On average, 13 applications were reviewed every day. There were also 95 visitors in the first six months of 2012, the State Chancellery reports.

In their letters, residents mostly expressed their opinions in relation to education; for example, proposing to increase salaries to teachers, and carrying out different reforms. The demographic situation in the country, renewable resources and sources of electrical energy, integration, Russian language and the reduction of the Real Estate Tax were also among important topics.

Residents also often expressed their opinions about the current political processes in the country, expressed their genuine interest and offered their ideas in relation to the National Development Plan and Latgale Development Plan.

Compared with the first half of 2011 the volume of letters received by the Cabinet this year has increased by more than 130 letters.
