November 10-14:

Arts event Insanity; Radio lofts (Kaunas st. 28, Kaunas);

Insanity program consists of artists residences, during which light installations appear, both at the opening of the exhibition, during it and at the closing event. This year‘s participants include Michal Pustejovsky (Czech Republic), Annika Hipler (Germany), Hans Kotter (Germany), Erik Matrai (Hungary), Max Frey (Germany), Rodrigo Guzman Cazares (Mexico), Eduardo H. Obieta (Mexico), Sase Puckovski (Macedonia) and Karolis Vaivada (Lithuania).

November 10-16:

European Film Forum Scanorama; Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipėda cinema theatres;

European Film Forum Scanorama is a festival that takes place every year in November in the biggest towns of Lithuania, providing some of the most distinctive cultural events of the autumn in Lithuania.

Scanorama began as a Nordic Film Forum, and in the first years of its life it attracted only fans of films from northern countries. The festival’s inspiration derives from the cinema classic Ingmar Bergman and the Dogma’95 avant-garde cinema movement, with Lars von Trier at the fore

Scanorama is well known for being a festival with high standards, aiming to show films that foster ethical and professional values. It is especially keen to preserve and foster its origins, its link with the countries of northern Europe, from where since the very beginning the films were the main factor forming the structure of the programme’s values, aims, atmosphere and viewers.

November 10-16:

Euro exhibition; the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania, Vilnius (Katedros sq.3)

Euro Exhibition organized in the National Museum – Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania invites both adults and children to learn more about our country‘s new currency – the euro. Visitors of the exhibition will gain more knowledge about the history of the euro, banknote design, production, protective measures, and destruction of worn-out money and learn to distinguish the real banknote from the fake. The visitors will have the opportunity to familiarize with coins of all countries of the entire Eurozone that will be also valid in Lithuania.

November 12-16:

International Folklore Festival Pokrovskije Kolokola; various venues;

The international folklore festival is organized by the Lithuanian Folklore and Ethnography Centre of National Minorities together with school of traditional Slavic music and Vilnius Russian folklore centre.

The festival boasts concerts of the best folk groups performed by Lithuanians and national minorities, living in Lithuania, as well as the concerts performed by the guests, coming from the ethnical homelands of the national minorities, living in Lithuania (Georgia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Latvia, Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Belarus etc.); a scientific conference tackling the problems of traditional cultural preservation will be held along with master classes during which the leaders of folklore groups will share their experience with others as to how preserve the traditional culture.

November 13-16:

The international jazz festival Vilnius Mama Jazz, various Vilnius venues;

The colourful Vilnius Mama Jazz Festival is known for a variety of jazz styles, and has been held in the capital since 2002. The musical line-ups have encompassed everything from all-star projects, contemporary post-bop, live sound for silent cinema, to arrangements of Led Zeppelin songs. Quality, originality, and are the unifying factors defining the diversity of festival programmes.The goal of the international jazz festival each year is to introduce interesting international jazz phenomena to Lithuanian audiences and to provide an environment for young artists to participate in national and international projects.

November 15, 3pm:

Happy Birthday Hip-Hop -Tribute To Urban Dance; Arts factory Loft, Svitrigaila st. 29, Vilnius;

Happy Birthday Hip-Hop -Tribute to Urban Dance is a street dance event/party, dedicated to the 40th anniversary of Hip-Hop culture. Teams of the best Lithuanian and foreign street dancers are preparing shows.The DJ list includes DJ Mr.and-7 (Russia), DJ Swix (Lithuania), DJ Justinez (Lithuania) Icee (FR) and others.
