July 21, 7pm

Christopher Summer Festival; St. Casimir’s Church, Didžioji st. 34, Vilnius;

The Christopher Summer Festival is the largest and one of the most impressive summer music festivals in Lithuania, and runs for two months (July to August). During this time, over 50 original concert events are presented to the public, taking place in different spaces in Vilnius and other Lithuanian districts. This festival does not easily fit into any stylistic frame – its motto being «all genres are good, except the boring ones». So, alongside classical music masterpieces there is jazz, world music, experimental projects, and traditional organ, piano music cycles.

July 21, 23 аnd 25, 11 am

Vilnius Walking Tours in German; Cathedral Belfry, Cathedral Square;

If one came to Vilnius on his or her own and want to become acquainted with the city, to see its most beautiful sites, then the person is invited to join the tour Discover Vilnius Old Town. In German!

In 1994, the Old Town of Vilnius was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Vilnius is known for the largest Old Town in Eastern Europe, which, architecturally, is also the richest part of Vilnius. The tour stretches from the majestic Gediminas’ Tower, which has been glorified in many legends, to a spectacular view of the Old Town with the stops at the Gates of Dawn and its painting of Mother of God, Vilnius University, The President’s Office, Lower Castle, the residence of the Grand Dukes and other great cultural values.

Such tours in Russian will take on July 21, 23 and 25 and in English on July 20, 22, 23 and 26, also at 11am;

July 21-26, noon:

Alternative Vilnius Tour; meeting point at Town Hall main entrance, Didžioji st. 31, Vilnius;

Vilnius stories through the ages will be told: the tour you will start in the Old Town and continue with different images, history details, fun and sad stories of the city. On the way one will see hidden Old Town yards, the marks of the II World War and Soviet period, the first statue in the world for famous American musician Frank Zappa, village houses and the prison in the middle of the city. Get to know the city on our alternative walking tour and discover Vilnius from different perspective. Others stops include Franciscan Church yard, Vilnius city wall, Reformatu square and ex Cinema theatre «Kronika», Trade Union Palace, KGB museum, Lukiškių prison and Lukiškių square;

July 21-26, 3pm

Vilnius Panoramic Tour; meeting point at Town Hall, Didžioji st. 3, Vilnius;

Vilnius Old Town is surrounded by many hills, which almost every has its own ancient name. This tour covers panoramas from different places around Old town and a visit to the bohemian Vilnius district – the Republic of Užupis, which has its own President and Sherriff. Here you find a Constitution of this Republic declared in 18 different languages, seven bridges, and two monuments for the same Duke, as well as art galleries, cosy cafes and can feel the atmosphere of Paris Montmarte. Be inspired of Vilnius images! The stops include Vilnius Town Hall square, St. Casimirus street and panorama, Bastion of Vilnius city wall with panorama, Park of ponds, The Constitution of Independent Republic of Užupis, Užupis Art incubator, Square of Tibet, Church of Bartholomew, Panorama from Bekešas Hill and St. Ann‘s Church;

July 22, 8.30pm

Opera under the stars; the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania, Katedros sq. 3, Vilnius;

The concert is going to feature the most beautiful compositions of the extracts of classical operas together with Modestas Pitrėnas as a conductor of Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, soprano Ona Kolobovaitė and opera soloist Kostas Smoriginas junior. It is a good opportunity to see the most prominent Lithuanian professionals of classical music on the same stage.

July 22, 8pm

Carnival Youth; Vasaros terasa (Summer Terrace), Vilniaus st. 39, Vilnius;

Joined together in 2012, the performers do not set limits for their music and constantly experiment, and this serves the purpose. The group succeeded in gaining international recognition in hardly several years. The name Carnival Youth may already be seen in the ranks of participants of such festivals as the The Great Escape, Positivus, GuilFest, Szigeti or Eurosonic Noorderslag.

July 20, 24, 25 and 26, 8 pm

Ghost Tour; start at the Cathedral Belfry, Katedros sq. 2, Vilnius;

In the evening shadows one will find different Vilnius Old Town. The real and fancy stories, myths and legends let imagine how the city used to live hundred years ago. One in the tour will hear the intertwined stories of romantic Grand Duke love, different wars horrors, monks swindle and fightings, executioner‘s extraordinary life in the Middle Ages town and much more. Dive into the mysterious Vilnius! The tour will take to the Lower Castle, Eustachy Wollowicz Palace, Pilies street, Pagan God Ragutis Shrine, Vilnius Bastion legends, Gates of Subacius and Vilnius executioner and City Hall square.

July 24, 7.30

«Galve Jazz Fiesta 2015»; Pier at the Royal Garden, Karaimų st. 57, Trakai;

The old capital of Lithuania – Trakai is often recognized not only by the old castles of the city, the ones that witness a history of the country. Not only by a beautiful nature as well. Since 2008 Trakai is well known also because of «Galve jazz fiesta». It is the only one project in Lithuania where you can enjoy jazz performed by local and foreign jazz music celebrities while on a boat. Jazz fans go for a journey around the Galve Lake by boat enjoying not only the music but also a view as Trakai castle, Užutrakis palace, astonishing landscape and sunset.

July 24-25:

Festival «Galapagai»; town of Zarasai;

The festival is said to be the largest outdoor summer international music and entertainment festival in Lithuania. Previously known as Roko Naktys (Rock Nights), it has become an international event attracting revellers from all over. The festival takes place in an island of the picturesque Zarasai region and has landed several international awards over the last few years; «Pendulum», MC Verse, «G&G Sindikatas», BA.,

«Trubetskoy», «Golden Parazyth», Alin and other big names will be feeding the frenzy;

July 24-26:

Klaipėda Sea Festival; seaport of Klaipėda;

The Sea Festival inviting one to the fiesta in the City of White Sails during July 24-26. During the festival, big stages in the Cruise Ship Terminal and on Atgimimas Square will host a marathon of spectacular concerts, dancing fountains will be seen on Jonas Hill, and Teatras Square will become an unexpected oasis of recreation.

For the first time in the Festival‘s history, Burinukas, a new children‘s character created specifically for the Festival, will be introduced to the Festival‘s guests.

«The Sea Festival has always been exclusive for its traditions. We are hoping that we are starting to create a new one today. Burinukas is the Sea Festival’s new and long matured character created for children and their space in the festive din. This unique and playful character is now going to visit Klaipėda every year only during the Sea Festival. His story and travel adventures can be found in the unique and colourful children’s book

«Burinuko Istorija” (eng. Burinukas’s Story)», says Goda Giedraitytė, creative director for PI «Klaipėdos Šventės».

The biggest novelty of the Sea Festival this year will be the magical Teatras Square. The space that Klaipėda citizens and guests are so used to will become an unrecognisable and fresh oasis for the three days of the Festival. Teatras Square during the day will be inviting those exhausted from the head to have a rest, and in the evening will be waiting for hopeless romantics.

On Friday, the voices of bards Neda Malūnavičiūtė, Olegas Ditkovskis and Andrius Kulikauskas will be warming up the Theatre Square. On Saturday, the guests of the Sea Festival will be delighted by jazz artist Eglė Petrošiūtė and her colourful entourage of international musicians.

The musical-recreational acts of the Festival will take place in two main areas: the Cruise Ship Terminal and Atgimimas Square.

On Friday evening the musical programme at the Cruise Ship Terminal will begin with a concert from the Sea Festival‘s partner LRT Television‘s «Golden Voice» finalists.

Atgimimas Square will once again become a stormy dance floor, and in the evening the rock‘n‘roll band from Latvia «Big Al & The Jokers» will take the stage.

On Saturday, the longest and most eventful day of the Sea Festival, the telecommunications company

«Balticum» will present the musical programme which will include the bands Biplan and Rebelheart. At night, Vladas Straupas will take over and continue the entertaining evening.

The Sea Festival partner‘s «Švyturys-Utenos alus» concert will cater for a wide variety of different tastes at the Cruise Ship Terminal. The concert will begin with a performance from musician Steponas Zonys, the winner of the «Klaipėdos Ateitis» scholarship. Right after that, Linas Adomaitis and Merūnas Vitulskis will perform.

Alexander Rybak, the winner of Eurovision 2009, will be the big star of the Sea Festival and will rock the stage at the Cruise Ship Terminal. Donatas Montvydas, the Lithuanian delegate for Eurovision will appear on the stage with him and then take over the concert. The evening will end with the electronic music duet Electronic I who will bring everyone to the stage.

On Sunday evening, the second annual evening of sung poetry and bard music Flight through the Night, organised by the non-governmental organisation Klaipėda‘s Democratic Women College, will invite you to indeed fly through the night. The sung poetry will be performed by a variety of well-known bards, including Neda Malūnavičiūtė, Olegas Ditkovskis, Andrius Kulikauskas and Friends, Saulius Bareikis, Vytautas Kernagis Jr., Baltos Varnos, Linas Švirinas and others.

July 21-26, 11am-7pm

Exhibition «The World According to Fluxus»; National Gallery of Art, Konstitucijos ave. 22, Vilnius;

«The World According to Fluxus» exhibition will showcase more than 600 items selected by curator Liutauras Pšibilskis and is the first comprehensive presentation of the Vilnius Fluxus Collection to a Lithuanian audience. It will allow viewers to become acquainted with these treasures of the Fluxus movement that were acquired by the City of Vilnius in 2007 and are part of the permanent collection of the Jonas Mekas Visual Arts Center. The collection was assembled by legendary avant-garde filmmaker, artist, critic and curator Jonas Mekas who was a close friend of George Maciunas (Jurgis Mačiūnas). Mekas is the founder and long-time artistic director of Anthology Film Archives in New York and the recipient of numerous international awards including the Lithuanian National Prize for Culture and the Arts.

July 25, 8am – noon:

Vilnius Collectors Club; Tauras Hill, Vinco Mykolaičio Putino St. 5, Vilnius;

Vilnius Collectors Club invites everyone who wishes to visit the collectors’ event, which takes place every Saturday from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. on Tauras Hill. One you will be able to find various coins, banknotes, stamps, postcards, vintage dinnerware, furniture, medals, awards, military insignia, silverware, porcelain, household appliances, watches, musical records, paintings, artwork, tools, utensils, etc. By engaging in conversation one will learn the history and circumstances of those times, the purpose of the objects and their value, current news and other interesting information. The club regularly attracts foreign guests who also bring their collections, change and trade them.

July 26, 10am

Sunday is a Day of Sport; Gediminas Avenue, Vilnius;

Till autumn Gediminas’ avenue will become an excellent zone for every habitant of Vilnius and city guest to spend the leisure time, where everybody can go in for sports, play various games and just have a wonderful Sunday afternoon. Each Sunday, in Gediminas’ avenue, one is able learn not only how to dance, to get to know the subtleties of various martial arts techniques, participate in each time different work-outs, exercises, but together with friends and family one is also invited to play badminton, table football, tennis and try many other programs.

July 26, 7pm

Summer Festival of Kairėnai. Baltic Guitar Quarter; VU Botanical Garden in Kairėnai, Kairėnų st. 43, Vilnius;

According to Saulius S. Lipčius, a member of the Baltic Guitar Quartet, the guitar is an extremely democratic instrument, a perfect vehicle for the most diverse music. Its out-and-out versatility allows performing early, classical and contemporary opuses, as well as pop, rock and other music. Guitar repertoire is very wide, and that’s why it has such a diverse audience. Established in 2004, the Baltic Guitar Quartet is often introduced as one of the leading collectives of the kind in the Baltic region. The ensemble gives many concerts, takes part in the main festivals in Lithuania and abroad. It has recorded three CDs: Live (2006), Dancing with Guitar (2009) and Tradición Nuevo (2013).
