BNN offers you a selection of cultural events in Lithuania for the week between October 5 and October 11.

October 5, 6pm:

German and French chamber music concert; Kaunas Artists Home, Putvinskio g. 56, Kaunas;

The best pieces of German and French Camera music will be played by pianist Daiva Stulgytė, clarinettist Žilvinas Brazauskas and other young talents;

October 5-11:

Baltics’ largest modern art event «Kauno bienalė»; Kauno centrinis paštas (Kaunas Central Post Office); Laisvės a. 102, Kaunas;

Over 80 artists from all over the word will showcase their best works under the. This year‘s focus is on synthesis of visual art, musical sound and interdisciplinary communication.

October 5-11:

International Film Festival for Children and Youth; Vilnius cinema theatres;

International Film Festival for Children and Youth is an invitation to all, including parents and politicians in education, to explore the educational possibilities of the cinema culture. The first and only film festival for youth in Lithuania, so far, it is a chance for the youth to take a look at oneself and life as if through a magnifying glass of the cinema screen. It is a necessary and important event in the capital’s cultural life, since it adds to the relatively small amount of quality events for children and youth.

October 5-11:

Escaped child of the Lithuanian Jews tells about Shoa; Tuskulėnai peace park memorial complex conference hall, Žirmūnų g. 1F, Vilnius;

Mobile exhibition «Escaped child of the Lithuanian Jews tells about Shoa» prepared by Vilna Gaon Jewish State museum and held in Conference hall of Tuskulėnai Peace park Memorial Complex will tell exceptional, authentic stories of the rescued in Holocaust children of the Lithuanian Jews. The exhibition presents unique and rare old photos.

October 6, 7 pm:

International Classical Music Festival «Intermezzo»; Business Park «Gariūnai» Concert Hall, Gariūnų g. 70, Vilnius;

New Musical Generation and Gariūnai business centre presents the first international festival of classical music «Intermezzo». The festival will present Liepaja Symphony Amber Sound Orchestra, Stradivari Quartet, which all members play Stradivari instruments, soloists from 9 different countries – and 5 unforgettable concerts with colourful and interesting programs. In the opening concert, pianists Alexei Gryniuk, Kasparas Ušinskas together with musicians of Liepaja Symphony Amber sound Orchestra under the direction of Atvars Lakstigala will take one on this stormy, yet beautiful and therefore inspiring musical journey…

October 5-11:

XII Baltic Triennial; Contemporary Art Centre (CAC), Vokiečių g. 2, Vilnius;

The idea of Baltic Triennial is not new: how we perceive an artwork and what we expect of it changes in time. Things get forgotten, switched around and we end up looking at the wrong end of a musical instrument or playing a painting back to front…This year’s Triennial will focus on the Baltic more than the previous editions – on the geographical region, its culture and the sea. The exhibition opens up a range of topics and their couplings including influence, exchange, materiality, and impact. It’s primarily an exhibition at the CAC, but the programme of events – talks, launches, presentations, classes and performances – spanning six weeks will expand behind the scenes.

October 7, 6.30pm:

Ballet «Barbora Radvilaitė», Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre, A. Vienuolio g. 1, Vilnius;

A ballet in 2 acts, with choreographer and libretto Anželika Cholina, conductor Robertas Šervenikas, set designer Marijus Jacovskis, costume designer Juozas Statkevičius, light designer Tadas Valeika.

«Barbora Radvilaitė» is said to be one of most popular Lithuanian historical personalities. The surviving letters of «Barbora Radvilaitė» reveal that she was probably the only woman in Poland and Lithuania that could lay her thoughts on paper with such intelligence and grace. Barbora was not only exquisitely beautiful and charming, but also an intelligent, well-educated lady of the Renaissance, who could handle every topic during a conversation. Her letters show us that Barbora had a wide array of interests that overstepped boundaries of what was accepted as usual activities of the noble women of her time…

October 9, 7pm:

Shopping Night Out; the Old Town, Vilnius;

In October, visitors of the capital’s most popular boutiques and fashion worshippers will meet and buzz till late on the Shopping Night Out. For one night, the Old Town shops will open their doors again and invite everyone concerned about creation of an individual style and getting into a vivacious night shopping. On the fashion night, visitors will be invited to the boutiques, jewellery and spa centres located in the Old Town of the capital.

According to Ieva Vainaitė, the head of the fashion fiesta night, the purpose of such events is not only to invite residents of Vilnius to designers’ boutiques and introduce to the services provided there but also to create a unique fashion evening for the Old Town – vibrant, open and full of surprises. Boutiques open until late will prepare programs for their visitors, offer various attractions and even select the most stylish buyer.

October 9, 11 am:

International Beauty and Style Industry Exhibition «Grožis 2015»; Švyturio Arena; Dubysos g. 40, Klaipėda;

What are the novelties of beauty industry? What is trending now and what should be already forgotten? The exhibition with over 100 participants from all over will give the answers to that. And more…

October 9-10:

Vilnius Light Festival «Beepositive»; various Vilnius venues;

Festival organizers, Creative workshop Beepart, located in Pilaitė district of Vilnius, is planning to noticeably widen festival territory, grow audience and present many interesting light installations in territory of all Vilnius.

«Beepositive» organizers are actively working not just in Lithuania, but also abroad to make the festival larger and louder. Among the distinguished guests will be four artists from Scandinavia, while they are making light installations «Mystical water». Many installations are planned to be made in the city centre and Vilnius suburb regions…

October 10, 10am-7pm:

Fair «Dzūkų turtai»; S. Darius and S. Girėnas Square, Alytus;

The best artisans and craftsmen from the ethnical region of Dzūkija will swarm the Town hall of Alytus, the administrative centre of Dzūkija;

October 11, noon:

Wind orchestra «Ąžuolynas» concert «Orchestra guests- young soloists»; Kaunas State Philharmonic, L. Sapiegos g. 5, Kaunas;

Kaunas‘ legendary wind orchestra «Ažuolynas» starts off the new 2015 autumn season with yet an unheard and new music programme. The ensemble has invited to the opening concert dozens of young promising performers from the city‘s music schools. The idea of the concert swirls about giving the young, yet moustache-less talents a possibility to perform solo under the accompanying sounds of the orchestra. The young talents had spent hours and days rehearsing. The concert will become for many a launching pad to the stardom…
