October 20-25:

International bards’ music festival This Is Me, various Vilnius venues;

International singer-songwriters’ festival This Is Me is held annually on the 3rd week of October. It’s a unique event which takes part not only in Vilnius, but also in other Lithuanian cities as well as in Latvia and Poland. Thanks to the festival, singing poetry, a mixed genre of music and poetry, stands equally to other genres. The festival is a great opportunity to present all similarities and varieties of singing poetry, chançons and bards songs to the audience. The festival has become an important part of Lithuanian cultural life and gets all Lithuanian and foreign performers and their admirers together.

October 22, 9pm:

Bushmills Live: Crystal Fighters, Arts Factory, Vilnius

It is said the English-Spanish-Basque sextet can electrify even the biggest humdrum. It is a colourful carnival, unstoppable rave and a little bit of Halloween… To tell the truth, it is just something different from what you have seen before. Group members resembling to dwellers of another world pull out unknown to the majority of us musical instruments. In a blink, they infect everybody with primitive dance according to the tribal rhythms; in another moment, independent on ages teasers appear on stage.

October 22-30:

Film festival Inconvenient Films, Skalvija, Multikino and Pasaka cinemas, Vilnius

Human rights documentary film festival Inconvenient Films is an annual documentary film festival established in 2007. The mission of this non-profit initiative is to raise awareness on human rights issues around the world and to connect them to those that are present in Lithuania. By presenting various documentaries on main human rights topics, inviting filmmakers and activists from all over the world, organizers hope to encourage public debates on human rights issues and ways to solve them. Despite project’s social mission and non-commercial character, the festival is one of the most popular and most visited film festivals in Lithuania.

October 23, 6pm:

International M. K. Čiurlionis’ Musical Festival, Applied Arts Museum, Vilnius

Performers include Amelija Būrytė (grand-piano), Elžbieta Dvarionaitė (grand-piano), Lukas Gedvilas (grand-piano), Kristijonas Megelinskas (grand-piano), Kamilė Zaveckaitė (grand-piano), Justina Doerup (violin),Mantas Jarašūnas (descant).

Program includes M. K. Čiurlionis, M. Ravel, F. Liszt, V. Klova etc.

October 24- November 9:

Contemporary music festival Gaida, various Vilnius concert halls;

The Gaida Festival has been taking place in Vilnius since 1991 is the most prominent festival of contemporary music in Lithuania. This is one of the most important new musical events in Central and Eastern Europe. During the last ten years the festival has become a prestigious event not only for Lithuanian music lovers, but also for the large international audience that attends the festival each year. Participants: Les Percussions de Strasbourg, Lihuanian National Syphony Orchestra, Spectra (Belgium) and others.
