BNN offers you a selection of cultural events in Lithuania for the week during March 7 and March 13.

March 7-13:

Exhibition «Shalom, Israel! The paths of Litvak Artists» (Paroda «Sveikas, Izraeli. Litvakų menininkų keliai»); Tolerance Centre (www.jmuseum.lt), Naugarduko g. 10/2, Vilnius;

The exhibition presents 24 Litvak artists and 37 pieces of art that unveil the two-way development of Jewish art. It illustrates the influence Litvak art had on the art of Israel and the way nature and traditional folk art in Israel changed the artistic expression of Litvak artists. Visitors will have the possibility to admire the works of Marc Chagall, Max Band, Boris Schatz, Emmanuel Mane-Katz, Pinchus Abramovitch and the other artists.

March 7-13:

International Baltic Jewellery Exhibition «Amber Trip» (Paroda «Gintaro kelionė»), Radisson Blu Hotel Lietuva, Konstitucijos pr. 20, Vilnius;

«Amber Trip» is a major specialised jewellery exhibition in the Baltic Sea Region, intended to jewellery industries and art. The event organizers aim to make amber even more popular worldwide; second, to unite the jewellery businessmen of the Baltic Region; third, to build jewellery bridges between the Eastern and Western Europe. The participants and visitors are from Lithuania, Poland, Turkey, Russia, Latvia, Estonia Ukraine, Greece, Italy, Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, India and the others country.

March 7-13:

Exhibition «Painter Wanderer» (Paroda «Dailininkas Klajotojas») by painter Vladas Eidukevičius, Vilnius Picture Gallery (http://www.ldm.lt/en/), Didžioji g. 4, Vilnius;

Exhibition «Painter Wanderer» is dedicated to 125th birth anniversary of Vladas Eidukevičius. He lived in 1891–1941 and is one of the most famous interwar Lithuanian painters whose creation is like a bridge between classic and modern painting. Visitors are presented with more than 100 works of the artist.

March 7-13:

Theatre festival «Nerk i Teatrą»; Nacionalinis Kauno Dramos Teatras (http://dramosteatras.lt), Laisvės al. 71, Kaunas;

The educational festival aiming at children, youth and families will invite to 39 theatrical events, 9 of which are free. The theatre goers will be able to meet their loved young actors and participate in numerous workshops.

March 8, 7 pm:

Concert for International Women Day «Muzika jūsų širdims» («Music for your hearts»); Žalgirio arena, Karaliaus Mindaugo pr. 50, Kaunas;

The most famous and sought-after Lithuanian men singers will greet all the women and girls in the only super-big March 8 concert in Lithuania. Among the performers are Lithuanian pop legends Ovidijus Vyšniauskas, Egidijus Sipavičius, Žilvinas Žvagulis, youth chorus «Ąžuoliukas» and legendary band «Rondo.»

March 8, 7 pm:

Concert of Merūnas Vitulskis «In the Heart of A Woman» (Koncertas «Į moters širdį»); St. Catherine‘s Church, Vilniaus g. 30, Vilnius;

Merūnas Vitulskis, the soloist of popular and classical music and the winner of international music competitions, invites all women to his concert under the vaults of St. Catherine Church. The talent will definitely touch the most sensitive strings of the soul. The soloist will perform songs by F. Schubert, R. Alessandro, J. Fontana, L. Dalla and other composers, is waiting for you.

March 8, 7 pm:

Concert of legendary Chris Norman and «Boney M»; «Švyturys» Arena (http://svyturioarena.lt/events-en/?lang=en), Dubysos g. 10, Klaipėda;

The golden Smokie voice Chris Norman will congratulate all women. One of the most popular disco groups in the world Boney M with leading soloist Maizie Williams will perform in the same concert. During the concert the public will hear all well-known Smokie hits – «Living Next Door to Alice»,«Needless and Pins»,«Mexican Girl»,«Oh Carol» as well as all other songs from Chris Norman’s repertoire, whereas «Boney M» and Maizie Williams will perform a series of its hits.

March 11, 11.30 am- 1.30 pm:

Day of Restoration of Lithuanian Independence; Vytauto Didžiojo Karo Muziejaus sodelis, K. Donelaičio 66, Kaunas;

The Act of Re-establishment of the State of Lithuania was signed on March 11, 1990. On this day, the victims of fights for Lithuanian independence are honoured, performances by various groups, and concerts are organised. Celebratory concerts in Kaunas will take place in the venue;

March 12, 6.30 pm:

Musical «Devil’s Bride » (Miuziklas «Velnio nuotaka»); Klaipėdos Valstybinis Muzikinis Teatras (http://www.klaipedosmuzikinis.lt/?lang=en ),Danės g. 19, Klaipėda;

Musical in 2 acts; the first Lithuanian musical created by Viačeslavas Ganelinas in 1972 is celebrating its 40th anniversary today. The Lithuanian musical «Devil’s Bride» based on the motifs of the narrative «Baltaragis’s Millhouse» by Kazys Boruta, until now considered to be the most popular musical in Lithuania, is reborn today on the stage of Klaipėda State Music Theatre.

March 12, 7 pm:

Concert «Guests of the Orchestra –Pacho Flores and Christian Lindberg» (Koncertas «Orkestro svečiai- Pacho Flores and Christian Lindberg»); Lithuanian National Philharmonic (http://www.filharmonija.lt/en/home.html), Aušros Vartų g. 5, Vilnius;

The National Philharmonic Society welcomes Swedish trumpeter Christian Lindberg, the long-time friend of the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra. The audience will also meet Pacho Flores, a trumpet virtuoso of Venezuelan heritage who has given concerts in such prestigious venues as Carnegie Hall in New York, Salle Pleyel in Paris and Opera City in Tokyo.

August’s construction costs declined by 0.4% in Latvia
