BNN offers you a selection of cultural events in Lithuania for the week during May 23 to May 29.

May 23:

International Vilnius Salsa Festival; House of Polish Culture (http://www.polskidom.lt/index.php/en.html ), Naugarduko g. 76, Vilnius;

Yearly Salsa Festival in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius is wrapping up a series of events which were a very special, intimate and sensual performance of the salsa dancers.

May 23, 8 pm:

Mika Concert; «Žalgiris» Arena (http://zalgirioarena.lt/en/), Karaliaus Mindaugo pr. 50, Kaunas;

The talented British singer and songwriter Mika of Lebanese descent will held his only concert in the Baltics and will present his latest album «No Place in Heaven», and will also play most popular hits – «Grace Kelly» and «Relax».

May 23-29:

International Poetry Festival «Poetry Spring»; various venues across Lithuania;

«Poetry Spring», an international annual poetry festival organized by Lithuanian writers’ union and Writers’ club, is wrapping up the events during which the poets in various spaces of the country were tugging at the poesy lovers‘ heartstrings.

May 23-29:

Festival «Druskomanija»; various Vilnius venues;

«Druskomanija» is the oldest festival of contemporary music in Lithuania organized by the Young Composers’  Division of the Lithuanian Composers’ Union.

May 24-29:

Exhibiton «Vasaros spalvos» («Colours of Summer»), M Art Gallery, Turgaus a. 9, Klaipėda;

For painter Marius Kavolis, the recent years have brought major international success with the largest exhibition halls vying to showcase his works. After the exhibitions in Moscow and Dubai now is Klaipėdians‘ turn to see the talented artist‘s works.

May 25, 7 pm:

Barcelona Gipsy Balkan Orchestra; Lithuanian Technical Library, Šv. Ignoto g. 6, Vilnius;

The contemporary, unique and particular sound of Barcelona Gipsy Balkan Orchestra stems from the tireless and passionate exploration of the timbers and flavours of the Klezmer and Romani traditions and the Balkan music. The group blends musical cocktail from Latin American to traditional Catalan, Italian, Greek, Russian traditional music with Balkan and Middle East sounds.

May 26-29:

International Folklore Festival «Skamba Skamba Kankliai»; various venues across the country;

This festival is deemed of the very few authentic festivals of folk music in Europe. During the 40 years of its existence, the festival gathered a great number of loyal admirers and formed its own image as an ethnic culture festival. This festival is also one of the stages of preparation for Lithuanian song festivals.
Together with well known traditional events (like Sutartinės Evening, Children’s Folk Day, Singing, Modern Folk Evening, Night Dances, Country Singers Hour, Sunday Concerts in Vilnius Old Town), the festival offers some new traditions (playing traditional instruments, traditional singing workshops, Night music concerts, etc.).

May 27-28:

International Wine Fair «Vyno dienos»; Exhibition and Convention Centre «Litexpo» (http://vynodienos.lt/en/), Laisvės pr. 5, Vilnius;

The wine exhibition «Vyno dienos» is the biggest wine and spirits event in the Baltic States, where professionals meet professionals and final consumers. More than 3800 visitors are expected to flock onto the centre premises and listen to the lecturers on wine, delivered by wine experts and wine producers. The most updated information about the wine will be revealed.
