January 25-31:

Exhibition «Shalom, Israel! The Paths of Litvak Artists» («Sveikas, Izraeli. Litvakų menininkų keliai»); Tolerance Centre (http://www.jmuseum.lt/index.aspx?Lang=EN), Naugarduko g. 10/2, Vilnius;

The exhibition presents 24 Litvak artists and 37 pieces of art that unveil the two-way development of Jewish art. It illustrates the influence Litvak art had on the art of Israel and the way nature and traditional folk art in Israel changed the artistic expression of Litvak artists.

January 25-31, noon-8 pm:

Exhibition «Recent Paintings from the United Kingdom» («Tapybos darbai iš Jungtinės Karalystės»); Contemporary Art Centre (http://www.cac.lt/en), Vokiečių g. 2, Vilnius;

As part of the British Council’s touring exhibitions programme, this group show presents a selection of recent works by fifteen British artists who demonstrate the richness and vigour of contemporary painting in the UK. The Painting Show includes works by Merlin Carpenter, Stuart Cumberland, Dexter Dalwood, Kaye Donachie and others;

January 25-31:

Exhibition «Eternally Young! Polish Art at the Late 19th Century- Early 20th Century» («Amžinai jauni! Lenkų menas 19 amžiaus pabaigoje- 20 amžiaus pradžioje»), Vilnius Picture Gallery (http://www.ldm.lt/Index_en.htm), Didžioji g. 4, Vilnius;

The exhibition from the National Museum in Krakow presents works of art by O. Boznańsko, J. Fałato, A. Gierymski, J. Mehoffer, F. Ruszczyc, J. Stanisławski, W. Weiss, and a number of other famous painters representing art of the «Young Poland» period. Over 150 examples of painting, graphics, sculpture and applied art are displayed.

January 27, 7 pm:

Concert «Orchestral Music Series» («Orkestrinės muzikos turas»), Lithuanian National Philharmonic (http://www.filharmonija.lt/en/home.html), Aušros Vartų g. 5, Vilnius;

On January 27, Mozart’s birthday, Rūta Rikterė and Zbignevas Ibelhauptas Piano Duo joined by the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra will perform two concerti by the composer.

January 29-31:

Exhibition «C.T. Jasper&Joanna Malinowska: Halka/Haiti: Return to Vilnius» (Opera «Halka/Haiti: Grįžimas į Vilnių»), Contemporary Art Centre (http://www.cac.lt/en), Vokiečių g. 2, Vilnius;

Exhibition on the opera composed by Stanisław Moniuszko during Russian occupation of Poland-Lithuania – Halka – and its recent staging in Cazale, Haiti for the descendants of Polish soldiers who fought for the Haitian Revolution in early 19th century.

January 29, 6.30 pm:

Opera «L’Elisiri D’Amore», Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre (http://www.opera.lt/en), A. Vienuolio g. 1, Vilnius;

An opera in two acts, will present music director and conductor Modestas Pitrėnas, director Oskaras Koršunovas, choreographer Edita Stundytė. Gaetano Donizetti‘s «L‘elisir d‘amore» is set in an Italian village, however, it is indicated in the libretto that all action is taking place in Spain…

January 29, 5.30 pm:

The exhibition of female acts will start off with an extraordinary event: painter Jonas Kunickas will draw a painting on the body of a nude model…

January 30, 6 pm:

Performance «Hitler and Hitler», Kauno Kamerinis Teatras, Kęstučio g. 74, Kaunas;

Theatre usually presents three new performances every year as only two of them – Andrejev’s «Judas Iskarijotas» and F. Rable’s «Gargantua and Pantagruel» have been shown since the birth of theatre in 1976. The newest performance «Hitler and Hitler» will certainly trigger an avalanche of pros and cons…
