Canadian Ambassador to Latvia John Morrison said in a meeting with the Economy Minister Daniels Pavluts that the Latvian economic recovery is doing well, according to the Ministry of Economy.
Both Morrison and Pavluts stressed that the current cooperation between Latvia and Canada has turned out to be very good. But given the potential for further cooperation, they agreed that bilateral trade and investments should be strengthened and encouraged.
They also discussed the EU and Canada co-operation issues, including the comprehensive economic and trade agreement, which will strengthen bilateral and regional trade. It will also boost EU exporters’ competitiveness in the global market.
Last year, Latvian exports to Canada totalled 22.1 million euro, while imports – 9.8 million euro. Exports to Canada grew 26% over 2010, while imports dropped 84.2%.
