Each casualty of Costa Concordia to receive 11 000 euro compensation

Italian tourism company Costa Crociere which owns the shipwrecked cruise ship Costa Concordia is to pay to all its passengers an extraordinary compensation at amount of 11 000 euro (7.7 thousand LVL).
The said compensation will be paid to cover losses which were caused to passengers when they lost their luggage and personal items, and as a compensation for moral harm, informs Italian Tourism Association ASTOI.
In order to pay compensations there was created a special operative service responsibilities of which will include dealing with all issues of the accident.
Compensation will be paid to completely all passengers, children as well, even if they travelled without a ticket.
Besides all valuable items found in cabins and safes of the ship will be returned to passengers.
However, the 11 000 euro compensation will not be paid to relatives of passengers taken away by the shipwreck, as well as to people who needed medical assistance. Amount of their compensations will be calculated, taking in to account amount of caused losses.
The company will also have to return to all passengers money for tickets, as the cruise came abruptly to an end.
On the board of the cruise ship in the night to January 14 this year when it shipwrecked in Tyrrhenian see, were 4200 people. According to latest information as a result of this incident 16 people died, the fate of 20 people remains unknown.
