More than 800 000 tourists came to the carnival of Rio de Janeiro. During the festivities they will leave no less than USD 600 million (LVL 332.4 million) in the city. The colorful show is broadcasted to 110 countries of the world.

For the first time the celebration takes place in a reconstructed sambadrome, which can house 72 500 viewers, who will see the performances of 13 samba schools in two nights. Every school, from three to five thousand participants, has to fit their performance on the 750 meter-long road in a limited period of time, ITAR TASS writes.

The grandiose show takes place at night, and millions of participants take part in the festivities at day accompanied by four hundred street orchestras.

The Brazilians themselves consider the carnival to be a bright demonstration of their national character.
