Construction costs in Latvia grew by 1.3% in May this year, compared to April. Worker salary increased by 3.3%, while vehicle and machinery maintenance and exploitation costs increased by 0.8%; prices for construction materials increased by 0.6%.

The total level of construction costs was mostly affected by the increase of expenses in the construction of vehicle facilities, as the data from the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia states.

Compared with May, 2012, the general level of construction costs is up by 7.3%. Worker salary increased by 17.4%, vehicle and equipment maintenance and exploitation costs increased by 14.1%. There was also a 0.4% price increase on construction materials.

The increase of costs for the construction of vehicle facilities and the costs for the construction of underground pipelines has had the largest impact on the increase of the overall level of construction costs.
