Demand for home visiting medical doctors increases rapidly
While the temperature is still relatively low in Latvia, people prefer more convenient and safer ways of getting to a medical doctor. According to medical establishments, the number of people applying for home visits of medical doctors is increasing in winter.
They are not only older people, but also those who find it difficult to get to a medical establishment. Besides, medical doctors note that the demand for home visits is increasing during the influenza period.
Medical doctors point out that influenza sickness rate might peak around the end of February, thus special preventive measures should be taken by the main risk groups – children, people with weakened immune system, as well as older people.
Influenza is an acute and particularly contagious virus infection affecting respiratory tract. Influenza starts suddenly with a headache, fever, muscle or body aches, stuffy nose or dry cough. It is one of illnesses that may cause various serious complications, medical doctors remind.
