Monday, May 21:

-A discussion, on the topic of «Latvian transport industry. How to increase the competitiveness of cargo transport?» organized by the Student association takes place in the Riga Graduate School of Law.

-A meeting dedicated to the changes in the European regulations related to the forest reproductive material will take place in the Department of Forest in the Ministry of Agriculture.

-Minister of Agriculture Laimdota Straujuma meets with the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh Dipu Moni.

-Director of the Department of Fishery of the Ministry of Agriculture Normunds Riekstins participates in the meeting of the Organization for Cooperation between the Baltic countries in Helsinki.

Tuesday, May 22:

-The «iLive 2012 – Internet marketing for development and competitiveness of business activities» conference takes place in the Radison Blu Hotel Latvija.

-A free seminar, as part of the «Investments with high value-added costs» – «Introduction of a quality project» program, takes place in the Latvian Investment agency.

-Representatives of the Riga Tourism Development bureau participate in the IMEX-Frankfurt exhibition.

Wednesday, May 23:

-The Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia reports about the activities of Latvian hotels in the first quarters of 2012 as well as the data on the price changes in the manufacturing industry in April 2012.

-The Latvian Investment agency hosts a free seminar – «Ecological Innovations Program».

-Minister of Agriculture Laimdota Straujuma meets with the Minister of Environment, Health and Consumer Protection of Brandenburg Anita Taka.

Thursday, May 24:

-The Latvian Investment agency hosts a free seminar – «Introducing a quality project for building renovation and performing procurement procedures».

-The Latvia-Turkey business forum takes place in the Radisson Blu Daugava Hotel.

-The central Swedbank Building hosts a free seminar on the topic of «Business opportunities in Germany».

Friday, May 25:

-The Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia reports about the changes in the value of Latvian Foreign trade in the first quarter of 2012.

-A regular meeting of Valmieras stikla šķiedra (Valmiera Glass Fibre) shareholders is held.

-The «Index of Long term development 2012» event is held at the Riga Museum of History and Navigation, as part of which the owners of the title «Family-friendly businessman» will be honored.

-Meeting of the Council of the Bank of Latvia, with a Press Conference afterwards, during which the head of the Bank of Latvia Ilmars Rimsevics will report about the decisions made by the Council.

-The International Exhibition Centre Ķīpsala hosts the «Summer Garden Festival» and «Children’s world 2012» exhibitions.

Economic Diary: Smash Business with Taxes
