Inese Vaidere

There is no other country where non-citizens are allowed to carry out political activities, but in Latvia national Bolsheviks can collect signatures using money of unknown origin, notes Inese Vaidere, deputy of the European Parliament. In her opinion, security structures should take responsibility about financing sources of these activities.

«At the moment, activity of security structures seems to me very unconvincing, not to say more. What refers to politicians, you should ask the Prime Minister whether he thinks that in this country anyone has rights to collect signatures on any question and receive money from any sources,» in the interview to Latvijas Avīze said Vaidere.

In her opinion, security institutions should review the Riga Mayor’s Nils Usakovs correspondence with Russian embassy, asking for a financing; it should be clarified whether the Harmony Center is the center for Moscow policy implementation in Latvia.

The Russian language referendum is forced and immoral, however, on the 18th of February we must prove that we care about the Latvian language – we must go and vote against the second official language. We must not discriminate against those who in Latvia speak only one language – Latvian, emphasizes the deputy.

However, according to Vaidere, a very important activity would be more serious significance to citizenship – when obtaining a citizenship of Republic of Latvia everyone should give an oath providing that there are sanctions for its violation, even deprivation of a citizenship. This should be provided by law.

Vaidere also criticizes state officials who use Russian when speaking with citizens. «In the public environment public officials should use the Latvian language, as they are setting axample to people. The former president, although being against Russian as the second official language, always rememembers to show respect to the «special» Russian language. Although, it is normal to respect Russian, the same as, for example the Chuckchee language,» says Vaidere.

Another politician who uses the sentiment of Latvian people for her popularity, a dangerous move. This makes living together as all inhabitants of the Latvian state not easier.
Using the term Bolshevist for part of the people living here, she puts herself in the same place as the right wing Russian politicians.
Its a shameful place to be.

My goodness , this lady is or living in the past, or ,and that would be worse, exploiting the sentiments of fear of Latvians about their culture being extinguished for her own popularity.
Latvians should learn to accept the past, as bad as it has been and life towards the future. Not doing that will stand in the way of their own development.

  5. That is right says:

She is right. What is happening now in Latvia is an absurd. It should never happen anywhere else. How can a person who is no welcome in some countries come to Latvia and start hate among peopoe. This person mr. Linderman should be shown his place and thrown out of the country. He is not even a latvian citizen. And everyone who is with this person as well. Also, Riga Mayor is unloyal to the country as he communicates mostly in russian. This is unloyalty to the state. He should not be allowed to be in politics or have any power anymore.
Thank you Vaidere for backing LATVIA!
