The 2012 UEFA European Football Championship, commonly referred to as Euro 2012, was opened in Warsaw’s National Stadium on June 8.

It is the 14th European Championship for national football teams organised by UEFA.

This year the tournament is hosted by Poland and Ukraine between 8 June and 1 July 2012.

The opening featured symbolic choreography, with participation of 800 performers and volunteer dancers from 63 countries worldwide.

Greece denied Poland a winning start by claiming a 1-1 draw in a dramatic opening match. Whereas, Russia made a dream start, defeating the Czech Republic 4-1.
