Baltic news, News from Latvia, BNN.LV, BNN-NEWS.COM, BNN-NEWS.RUFraudsters selling fake Zepter products – plates, knives and other kitchen utensils – continue misleading residents and selling low-quality goods. Criminals are active in public places, particularly parking lots of shopping centres.

Official Zepter International Baltic representatives warn residents and urge all victims of those fraudsters to report to the police.

The scheme fraudsters use is simple. A respectively dressed man offers passers-by to buy products of different brands with a discount. The man claims he is a Zepter employee, most often from Poland, and explains his offer with the alleged fact that he has exhibition samples left and he cannot possibly take them with him on a place. Police report there have been cases when such a scheme was used to sell products of Zillinger, Zephyr, Zeppelin, Solingen and Hanssen.

«Seeing as how victims of those frauds have described meeting different people, there is room to consider there is a group of people engaged in illegal activities. We urge residents who have become victims of fraud to report to nearest police department and contact official Zepter representatives in Riga by e-mail salesdirector@zepter.lv or by phone+371 80007222. Furthermore, we remind residents of the necessity to always inspect suspicious offers very carefully before making a purchase, especially if the person offering a purchase does not give you time to think and asks for money up front. If someone approaches you at a parking lot or any other place offering a discount on Zepter products – it is definitely a fraud,» – says board member of Zepter International Baltic Konstantin Tyagniryadko.

Here are some guidelines how to distinguish genuine Zepter products from fakes:

-Genuine Zepter products always have a Zepter International trade logo with date of manufacture (month and year). The lid should have a digital or mechanical thermal controller with Zepter logo;

-All elements of Zepter products (crockery, cover, packaging, special bags, cases, etc.) have elements of Zepter brand.

-The design of Zepter goods is the same in all countries. Zepter does not manufacture limited edition products with a different design.

-Original Zepter products come with a guarantee ticket with contact information of regional Zepter offices and service points in the country. Zepter International Baltic is the only official distributor of Zepter products in Latvia.

    Bought a pot this week in Kyiv for $346. Used paste that came with pot to cleanse factory residue, as sales lady instructed. Then boiled spring water for 20 minutes, only spring water. Dumped water and saw about a dozen small blemishes… The beginning of pits, the kind I have seen in every “made in China” pot purchased in the last 15 years. This is not high quality steel.

    I HAVE JUST BEEN APPROACHED BY SUCH A GUY IN BUCHAREST ROMANIA this morning.
    He offered a cooking set, a ceramic knife set and a cutlery set for 400 euros. Fortunately I have recognized the “ceramic set” my grandma bought in Auchan with 10 euros and I understood it was a fraud.
    Just for fun I went down to 100 euros for all, but in the last moment the guy stepped back. He tried to impress with a smart suit and tie and a visa for Moscow where he was supposed to go that day.

    The same thing happened to my poor parents in Brooklyn in November 2017. The minivan with 2 people speaking mixture of Russian and Polish begged my parents to buy a set. And I even think they’ve used hypnosis on them because they managed to sell them 3 sets, and my parents don’t remember a thing.
