Latvia celebrates Father’s Day: programme of events in Riga

Baltic news, News from Latvia, BNN.LV, BNN-NEWS.COM, BNN-NEWS.RUOn Saturday, 10 September, a processing dedicated to Father’s Day will begin at the Freedom Monument at 12:00. Families from all over Latvia are invited to participate. The procession will end in Vermont Garden at the big stage. Immediately after the procession a concert will begin, featuring performances from Dailes Theatre’s Ilga ensemble.

Father’s Day festivities will continue throughout the whole day until 17:00.

Here is a programme of festivities in Riga:

Festive procession

The gathering for the procession will begin at 11:00 at the Freedom Monument. Any family wishing to celebrate Father’s Day in Latvia is invited to participate in the procession. The procession will commence at 12:00.

The Big Stage:

12:20: Festive opening of Father’s Day celebration.

12:30-14:00: performance by Dailes Theatre’s Ilga ensemble (actors Gundars Silakaktins, Lauris Subatnieks and Aldis Silins).

The Small Stage:

13:00: performance by child vocal ensemble Knīpas un Knauķi and Sejanu family.

13:30: chemical experiment show by Laboratorium.lv.

14:00: open-air show ‘What is too crazy, is too crazy…’ by Director Dita Balcus. This show was nominated for the ‘Spēlmaņu nakts 2013/2014’ prize. It is a fun musical show the whole family.

15:00: percussion performance by Nils Ile with family.

Events in Vermont Garden territory:

12:00-17:00: Rimi organizes all kinds of strength and agility activities for people of all ages, including wall-climbing, obstacle course, fishing and marksmanship challenges.

Gift workshops:

A special workshop to help children craft gifts for their fathers will be organized this day. Children will be shown ways of making bracelets, exclusive Father’s Day congratulations and wooden medals.

Photo walls:

Printable memento photos, washable tattoos, games and other activities will be organized by BioGaia and Tilman.

Rimi will organize a photo wall in the park. It will be available for young and old.

Latvian Post will offer participants a special service this day – take a photo, upload it to www.nosutipastkarti.lv, fill in the address fields and the image will be sent to the specified person.

Orientation games – prizes from Baltsport.lv, Lego and Zvaigzne ABC.

Riga City Council’s Welfare Department will organize exercises, large-scale games and Red Cross health room. Residents will be able to consult specialists and determine their health.

Other activities:

Come to Amigo tent, measure your family’s hug and add it to Latvia’s total for the country’s 100th jubilee.

Dr. Clown’s charity lottery. Dr. Clown’s mission is to help each and every child overcome tough times.

Cosmetologist consultations for men at Oriflame beauty spot.

Have a look at the work of Riga Municipal Police. Participants of the event will be offered an opportunity to get in a police car, meet police dog named Rotto and play a security game ‘What to do if…’.

Survival school. Learn new skills at Saliedet.lv tent.

Cute puppies! Learn about responsibility toward animals in this special tent.

Rhythm and sound workshop. Offer extended by Nils Ile with family.
