Latvia PM: future economy needs alternative sources of finance

Valdis Dombrovskis
The future economy needs alternative sources of finance, says Latvian Prime Minister, Valdis Dombrovskis.
He was speaking at the World Economic Forum in China.
Later he wrote on his Twitter acount that alternative financial sources include capital market, such as bonds, which have been successfully used also by Latvia.
Speaking about the future of the global economy, the key thing is that financial markets trust countries. Similarly, the private and public sectors must have confidence in each other, he said.
“If there is confidence, banks have sufficient funds and companies make investments. This results in economic growth.”
According to him, accurate information and transparency are the main things that can maintain a balance between the economy and the future needs.
Dombrovskis has already met with Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum, who said Latvia showed an example of tackling the crisis.
Dombrovskis will also give an interview to the newspaper 21st Century Business Herald and meet a number of Chinese officials and businessmen.
