On Sunday, July 1, Riga will be visited by Warner Bros, Procter&Gamble, Boeing and representatives of 20 more influential American companies in the sphere of IT, automobile, defence, aerospace, construction, film industry and other fields, to evaluate Latvia as a n attractive business destination, as well as to discuss business cooperation opportunities.

The visit of an American business delegation to Latvia is one of the practical results of that visit, which proves that American companies have serious interests in cooperating with Latvia; and this opportunity should be used to attract investments for production and export projects, which would create additional jobs.»

A seminar is planned specifically for the visit of American businessmen: «USA and Latvia business cooperation opportunities», during which a panel discussion «Doing Business in Latvia – the Perspective of Americans» will also take place. During the discussion, US business circles will be able to learn about Latvia’s business environment, logistical opportunities to Russia, Northern Europe and Asia, as well as learn about cooperation experience with Latvia’s IT sector, the Cabinet of Ministers reports.

Economy Minister Daniels Pavluts says that despite the large geographical distance between Latvia and USA, cooperation between the two countries is successful and very active. «Not too long ago America was characterized in the world as the land of opportunity. It is unquestionably so. But no one can deny Latvia the right that are a land of opportunity ourselves; in addition, we know of our opportunities and know how use them! Cooperation with businessmen and business organizations from other countries is an integral part of our business day-to-day; creating opportunities not only for export, but for the creation of a new economic values here, in Latvia». Pavluts points that a wide visit of the US business delegation to Latvia is one more step towards successful cooperation and investment attraction for Latvia.

US businessmen have individual meetings planned with Latvian companies and industry associations, meetings with the Latvian President, Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs Minister, US ambassador to Latvia and the members of the American Chamber of Commerce in Latvia.

«Despite global instability, Europe is still the largest economic partner of the United States of America, and Latvia, as an EU member state, has many advantages to offer US investors,» – notes president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Latvia Ivars Slokenbergs. He mentions access to the EU market as one of the main advantages of Latvia in terms of competitiveness, as well as the ability to attract talented, experience rich workforce.

The US delegation will stay in Riga from July 1 to July 3. This is a response visit to last year’s visit of Latvian officials to USA.
