Many Latvian hockey fans have arrived to Stockholm to support their national team in Ice Hockey World Championship, but the thing is that they are constantly caught up in trouble. The local police have already detained some too active fans.

The nastiest incident occurred on Sunday, May 6, when Latvia was playing against Germany. A supporter of the Latvian national team found himself in a conflict with the police. As a result, several policemen took him to a locked facility, where he spent quite a long time.

Latvian fans reveal that such incidents occur regularly. For example, one man had to leave the stadium after unsuccessful attempts to court a young lady, who contacted the police.

Most of Latvian fans usually arrive at the matches after using some alcoholic beverages, which means that the police are keeping a close eye on them.

Police officers are also strictly monitoring alcohol bought outside the hall, examining even cups of coffee that people are trying to sneak in.

A 0.3-liter bottle of beer costs just over three lats (4.2 euro) at the hockey hall.

The World Championship will be held until May 20 in Sweden and Finland. The Latvian national team plays in Stockholm with the Czech Republic, Sweden, Germany, Italy, Russia, Denmark and Norway.
