Baltic news, News from Latvia, BNN.LV, BNN-NEWS.COM, BNN-NEWS.RULatvian Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis will not request the resignation of Justice Minister Janis Bordans, Delfi.lv reports.

The leader of the National Alliance Raivis Dzintars, on the other hand, has announced that this specific decision by the Prime Minister means the coalition agreement is void. The National Alliance is responsible for matters of justice and culture in this government of Latvia, the politician reminded.

BNN had previously reported that VL-TB/LNNK had turned to the PM with news of the party’s plans to dismiss Janis Bordans from his current post as Justice Minister, because the decision was made during the last meeting of the Board of VL-TB/LNNK to expel him from the party.

When asked if he plans to submit his resignation, Bordans replied negatively, saying that doing so would be ‘the easy way out’. ‘Society is given a signal that as soon as you come close to a party’s sponsors, you’re done,’ – he said.

Latvian Justice Minister Janis Bordans believes his dismissal as Justice Minister and expulsion from the National Alliance may be linked to meddling in important economic interests.

‘It seems that the party and I have different views on the topic of political development. Can this be a reason to expel someone? I do not believe it should be,’ – he said. Bordans added that he may have become inconvenient for the party.
