Latvian State Police request criminal prosecution of a group for selling drugs

Baltic news, News from Latvia, BNN.LV, BNN-NEWS.COM, BNN-NEWS.RULatvian State Police’s Organized Crime Combating Office has requested the prosecutor’s office to launch criminal prosecution of a group of people held suspect for selling narcotics in large amounts.

Last year, State Police arrested three people. Police found and confiscated 3 kg of methamphetamine from them.

In October 2015, based on previously received information, police determined a group of people who were active in the trade of narcotics. Police apprehended three people under suspicion of illegal drug trade.

Six searches have been carried out at homes of suspects and their owned vehicles as part of the criminal process. In total, police found and confiscated 3 kg of methamphetamine. The total worth of confiscated goods on the black market is approximately EUR 45,000.

The group arrested by the police had been previously criminally prosecuted for similar crimes, as reported by the police.

Police concluded the pre-court investigation in February. The criminal process has been sent to the prosecutor’s office to launch criminal prosecution. The group is accused of selling narcotics in large amounts.
