Mafia «godmother» arrested by Naples police

Police arrested the Italian “godmother” Raffaella D’Alterio along with 65 other suspects affiliated with the Pianese-D’Alterio clan in north Naples on Tuesday, June 26.
While D’Alterio, nicknamed “a miciona,” or “the big female kitten” in Italian, may not fit the typical description of a mob boss, she and the other suspects stand accused of tried-and-true mafia crimes of extortion, possessing illegal arms, robbery and drug dealing, The Huffington Post reported.
D’Alterio took over her clan when her husband, Nicola Pianese, was murdered six years ago.
Prosecutors accuse D’Alterio of building up further ties with the Neopolitan mafia, known as the Camorra.
Police also seized property and goods of the accused mobsters, including car dealerships, supermarkets and bank accounts.

Latvian parliament's budget for 2014 is estimated around LVL 15 million
During the June 17 meeting of the Saeima Praesidium, the parliament's budget for 2014-2016 was confirmed. The parliament does not plan to increase expenses for current activities, rather divide the funding for two main budget goals – LVL 255 thousand for Latvia's presidency over the Council of the European Union and LVL 2.76 million for the reconstruction of the main building on Jekaba Street 6/8.
