Without using mortgage loan, Ugis Magonis’ wife Anastasija Magone managed to afford to buy an impressive apartment on Elizabetes Street in Riga last year. Estimates suggest this apartment is worth EUR 695,000.

Baltic news, News from Latvia, BNN.LV, BNN-NEWS.COM, BNN-NEWS.RUAccording to Pietiek, Magonis, who is held suspect by Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau of accepting a bribe worth nearly half a million euros, only mentioned multiple properties owned in Adazi and a single apartment in Riga in his declarations for the past several years.

As it turns out, however, those aren’t the only properties owned by Magonis’ family. His wife had carried out an impressive purchase last year, according to the digital land book. On top of that, this purchase was carried out using her own or the family’s funds. No mortgage loan was used.

Last year, 1985-born Anastasija Magone bought an expensive apartment in Riga for EUR 695,000. With that, she now owns 110/1000 of the building’s total area. She bought this apartment from 1944-born Aleksandr Jeshurin.

A similar apartment in this building is currently on offer for EUR 785,000 with the following description: «Exclusive apartment on sale in Riga’s quiet centre, Elizabetes Street 23a. Apartment is located on the 2nd floor. Total area is 340 m2; eight rooms; three bathrooms; two separate kitchens and two entrances. The property is joined up by two adjacent apartments. With that, it takes up the entire second floor.

The apartment is well-finished. Old parquet flooring is kept intact. The same applies to tile stoves and ceiling decorations. In addition, large windows, high ceilings and wide spaces make the apartment bright and cozy, at the same time leaving a very respectable impression. There are multiple embassies, banks, prestigious restaurants and entertainment locations in the immediate area around the building. Buildings located on Elizabetes Street are some of the most beautiful and oldest ones in the quiet centre.»

It should be added that Anastasija Magone (Bakulina prior to marriage; Russian citizen) could have personal funds to afford such a purchase. It has been mentioned by the media that she is the daughter of a high-rank Russian railway official.
