McDonald's launches three new restaurants in Latvia

Three new McDonald’s fast food restaurants in Riga will welcome visitors this year. Moreover, the company will launch its first restaurant in one of the biggest cities in Latvia as well, thus announcing itself as resolved to conquer also the regions, the company’s representatives informed the business news portal BNN.

McDonald’s does not reveal the city where the new restaurant will be opened, however the focus is upon Daugavpils, Jelgava and Liepāja.

The economic situation and the purchasing power have stabilized in Latvia, judging from the eating habits and the increasing clients activity. January reports positive tendencies, compared to the exact period a year ago. However, all in all, it is yet too early to speak about the start of an economic growth, McDonald’s office in Latvia SIA Premier Restaurants Latvia Head Viktors Tedesko says.

McDonald’s opened its seventh restaurant in the supermarket Alfa in September 2010. Nearly 700 000 euro (492 000 lats) was invested in the development of it. Similalry, in late 2010 McDonald’s restaurant Main Station on Merķeļa Street 1 was expanded by launching the second McCafe for the fans of coffee and pastries. About 350 000 euro (246 000 lats) was invested in the development of it.

McDonald’s investments in its development in Latvia amounted to 3 million euro (2.1 million lats) in 2010. All in all, McDonald’s plans investing 20 million euro (14 million lats) in the development by expanding its chain up to 35 restaurants across the Baltics by 2013.

    I used to work for McDonald’s in the USA
    It was nice to have the one there in Riga to make me fill a little more like home it was just as nice and clean and fast food as the ones in the USA. Glad to see them adding more there and the Jobs it will bring to Latvia . = )
