Nokia Siemens to fire a third of their employees in Germany

Nokia Siemens Networks Company has announced of their decision to let go about 2 900 employees in Germany as part of their global restructuring. The number of people to be made redundant is estimated to be a bit less than a third of the company’s German branch.
Nokia Siemens employee Trade Union representative claims that the Trade Union does not agree to the redundancies, and are planning to preserve as many jobs as they can. Lenta.ru reports.
Moreover, the company does not plan to restrict redundancies to just their German branch: 1 200 more employees of Nokia Siemens are to be made redundant in Finland, Lenta.ru writes.
As previously reported, all and all the company plans to make redundant 17 000 people, a quarter of their staff, by the end of 2013. These means are aimed to reducing the costs of the concern by one billion EUR per year.
