Riga will house the «Nuit Blanche» (White Night) modern culture forum from the evening of September 8 to the morning of September 9. The event will feature more than 60 projects within Riga and its outskirts.

Projects will be dedicated to different movements of modern art: concerts, poetry reading, theatrical and dance performances, movies, installations and a great many inter-industrial projects and entertainment events for young visitors of «White Night», Riga City Council reports.

This year’s motto of the forum – «On a tray». The forum will consist of three parts. In the evening, everyone, especially young people and families with children, are invited to attend projects of the «Supper» category.

The «Midnight Dinner» part of the forum will take place from 23:00 to 04:00 in Riga. The «White Breakfast» is planned to take place at the Esplanada from 04:00 to 06:00, offering visitors to meet at a very real breakfast and discuss the event.

During the entirety of the coming night, popular poets and young music bands will perform at Esplanade. Vermant Park will feature the latest Latvian movies. Kronvalds Park will feature a unique interactive project of the White Night, by a group of Spanish artists Itinerania.

Spikeri Quarter will feature exhibitions and theatrical and music performances. Different events are also planned to take place in Pardaugava.

This year, 27 contest projects are participating in the forum. These projects received municipal funding, the rest are privately funded initiatives by artists, artistic organizations and companies.

In order to make it convenient for people to visit locations of events of White Night, additional runs of public transport will be organized on the night from Saturday to Sunday for bus routes: 3, 6T, 11, as well as the route that unites routes NN 12, 23 and 26, 18,24,25,37, 40, 50,51, 53; tramway routes NN 4, 5, 6, 7, 10 and 11; trolleybus routes NN 9, 14, 15, 17, 18, 22 and 27.
