Multimedia exhibition ‘River of Dreams’ by artist Kristine Luize Avotina will be available to see at Riga Art Space until 10 December.
The special atmosphere of the exhibition was achieved using motion, sound, light, animation and modern special effects. The exhibition was designed by Sandra Jonane, director and video artist Roberts Rubins, stage designer Didzis Jaunzems and audio artist Ugis Vitins.
«The chosen multimedia solution was not random – it was inspired by VGA exhibition/Van Gogh Alive/Israel. Modern technologies allow us to look at classic art from a different perspective and reveal a new prism for emotional and visual perception. We thought it would be exciting for people to look at works of art produced by our local artists. Paintings by Kristine Luize Avotina – flowers, rivers, bird wings – will carry visitors of the exhibition to an actual dream world,» – says the author of the idea, curator Sandra Jonane.
«Paintings are remade by putting one coat of paint over another, giving motion to parts of each painting. The effect on the big screen will be impressive: no matter where the viewer looks, moving shapes and colours are given life,» – comments director Roberts Rubins.
«Up until now, my life has been driven by dreams – a dream about love and friendship, a dream about painting and a dream about a happy life. Dreams are very powerful motivators. A dream is the beginning followed by work to achieve it. Nothing happens on its own. And I think that is the beauty of life. A dream is a person’s development road. When I was 22, I had organized my first personalized exhibition in Pedants gallery after being invited by Prof. Kaspars Zarins. I kept falling in love with each brush movement – it was as though each movement, breath and thought were merging into one,» – Kristine Luize Avotina comments the idea of the exhibition.
