Monday, May 14

-Emergency meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, dedicated to Latvia’s participation in the EU and the development of Latvia’s unified position on the EU Council meeting of economy and finance on May 15, 2012.

-President of Latvia Andris Berzins meets with the Minister of National Defense of China Liang Guanglie and participates in the first meeting of the Song and Dance celebration Council.

-Meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers Committee.

Members of the Human rights and public issues commission meet with Chephas Lumina, the UN Independent Expert on the effects of public debt and other financial obligations to the state’s ability to fully respect human rights, especially in economy, culture and social spheres.

The National Economy Commission prepares amendments to the «Law of Public Procurement» before the third hearing.

The Judicial Commission prepares amendments to the «Law of Referendums and Bill Initiation».

The Budget-Finance Commission approves the representative of the Bank of Latvia Council and Saeima in the Northern Investment Bank, as well as discusses the size of the tax for motorcycle exploitation and the possible changes in the requirements for their maintenance.

The Commission on Defense, Internal Affairs and Corruption Prevention discusses contraband combating at the Riga Free port.

The National Economy Commission reviews amendments to the «Law of Cooperative Unions», «Law of Agriculture and Rural Development», and the «Law of Chemical Substances».

The Human Rights and Social Issues Commission prepares amendments to the «Law of Electronic Media».

One of the first Art Nouveau buildings in Riga is falling apart
