-Meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers. During the meeting, ministers will discuss the plan of actions to assist the use of biofuel, review amendments to the Official Electronic Mail Addresses Law and other legislative initiatives.

-Meeting of the Saeima Praesidium.

-Meeting of the parliamentary faction of Latvian Regional Alliance.

-President of Latvia Raimonds Vejonis takes part in a meeting of the Military Council.

-Acting Prime Minister of Latvia Janis Reirs hosts a meeting of the Coalition Parties Council.

-Laimdota Straujuma takes part in an annual meeting of Baltic prime ministers in Vilnius, Lithuania.

-Education and Science Minister Marite Seile is away on an official visit to New York, USA. As head of Latvia’s delegation, Saile participates in the meeting of the UN General Assembly.

-Members of the Bulgarian parliament visit the Latvian Saeima.

Tuesday, 15 December:

-President of Latvia Raimonds Vejonis presents credentials to ambassadors of Japan, Portugal and Moldavia in Latvia.

-Laimdota Straujum, ministers and director of the State Chancellery take part in a creative workshop, during which they will decorate a Christmas tree with students of Valka Music and Arts School.

-Meetings of the standing Saeima committees:

Legal Affairs Committee reviews amendments to the Latvian Code of Administrative Violations;

Social and Employment Matters Committee discusses the situation with HIV/AIDS infection rates;

Budget-Finance Committee assesses the efficiency of the banking sanction system against money laundering activities and financing of terrorism in Latvia;

Public Administration and Local Government Committee reviews amendments to the Saeima Elections Law and Political Parties Law;

Human Rights and Public Affairs Committee reviews amendments to the Law on the Application of Penalties to Children for Educational Purposes.

-Meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.

Wednesday, 16 December:

-President of Latvia Raimonds Vejonis presents credentials to Latvia’s ambassador in Spain Agrite Daudze. The president will also work with the Clemency Service and meet with Laimdota Straujuma.

-Laimdota Straujuma will meet with ambassadors of Japan and Moldavia in Latvia.

-Meetings of the standing Saeima committees:

European Affairs Committee discusses Latvia’s national position at the meeting of the European Council on 17-18 December;

Defence, Internal Affairs and Corruption Prevention Committee reviews the Saeima’s plan regarding the participation of Latvian National Armed Forces in the operation of the international coalition in Iraq against the Islamic State terrorist organization;

Legal Affairs Committee reviews amendments to the Constitution of the Republic of Latvia;

Public Administration and Local Government Committee holds a meeting in Liepaja;

Social and Labour Affairs Committee prepares the project of the Psychologists Law in the second reading;

National Economy Committee reviews amendments to the Law on Tourism, Electronic Communications Law, Energy Market Law and the Law on Circulation of Energy Drinks.

-Meetings of parliamentary factions of Latvian Regional Alliance and Union of Greens and Farmers.

Thursday, 17 December:

-President of Latvia Raimonds Vejonis takes part in a meeting of the State Language Commission.

-Environmental Protection and Regional Development Minister Kaspars Gerhards meets with acting Ecology and Natural Resources Minister of Ukraine.

-Laimdota Straujuma takes part in a two-day meeting of the European Council in Brussels, Belgium.

Friday, 18 December:

-Agriculture Minister Janis Duklavs visits Latvian State Gardening Institute in Dobele.

Construction costs in Latvia up 0.8% in February
