-Meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers. During this meeting, ministers will review amendments to the Law on Social Services and Social Assistance.

-Meeting of the parliamentary committee for the investigation of Zolitude tragedy.

-President of Latvia Andris Berzins meets with the official delegation from China in order to discuss matters related to exports of Latvian food products to China.

-Agriculture Minister Janis Duklavs and a delegation of businessmen and officials from Shanghai visit Rīgas piena kombināts.

-Chairwoman of Saeima Human Rights Committee Inese Laizane meets with representatives of Latvian National Electronic Mass Media Council.

-Defence Minister Raimonds Vejonis meets with British Minister for European Affairs David Lidington in order to discuss NATO plans in regard to increasing international security.

-Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics travels to Moscow.

Tuesday, January 13th:

-Meetings of standing Saeima committees:

Defence, Internal Affairs and Corruption Prevention Committee visits the Christmas Battles Museum in Valgunde;

Public Administration and Local Government Committee reads through results of the survey by Social Sciences Faculty of University of Latvia ‘How democratic is Latvia? Democracy audit 2005-2014’;

Legal Affairs Committee reviews amendments to the Law on the Change of a Given Name, Surname and Nationality Record;

Members of the Human Rights Committee meet with Culture Minister Dace Melnbarde;

Education, Culture and Science Committee reviews important matters related to the work of Latvian National Committee at the UN Committee for Education, Science and Culture.

-Meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.

-Specialists of Agriculture Ministry present information regarding regulations of the market of agricultural land during the meeting of Latvian Local Governments Union.

-Agriculture Minister Janis Duklavs and ministry’s specialists travel to Berlin, where Messe Berlin agriculture exhibition will be held January 13 – 18.

Wednesday, January 14th:

-Agriculture Ministry holds a tele-conference, during which the work group for agriculture and forestry will make the decision regarding the preparation of the application to the Secretariat of the UN Convention on Climate.

-Welfare Minister Uldis Augulis participates in the meeting of Senior Affairs Council. During this meeting, officials will discuss important matters in social sphere.

-President of Latvia Andris Berzins meets with representatives of Latvian Association of Auditors.

-Prime Minister Laimdota Straujuma participates in the first plenary meeting of the European Parliament in 2015.

-Transport Minister Anrijs Matiss remains in Berlin on an official visit.

-Finance Minister Janis Reirs participates in festive events in Vilnius organized to celebrate euro adoption.

Thursday, January 15th:

-President of Latvia Andris Berzins travels to Berlin with a two-day visit. There he will meet with German President Joachim Gauck and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

-Agriculture Ministry holds a meeting of the working group of the Council of the EU internal and external policies of fishery.

Friday, January 16th:

-During a joint meeting of parliamentary committees on foreign affairs and European affairs, officials will discuss transatlantic partnership between USA and the EU.

-Prime Minister Laimdota Straujuma gives a speech at the event dedicated to the beginning of Latvia’s presidency over EU Council in Brussels.
