Baltic news, News from Latvia, BNN.LV, BNN-NEWS.COM, BNN-NEWS.RUThe presence of the recently arrived group of U.S. soldiers in Ādaži military base will cost Latvia several hundred euro per month.

Representative of Latvian Defence Ministry’s press-service Dace Kundrāte explains that the welcoming of American troops in Latvia is based around the principle of support from the host country. This means Latvia will pay for expenses that come with keeping American soldiers in Ādaži military base. Additional expenses related to the use of barracks by U.S. troops are not expected to be large – a few hundred euro per month.

All other expenses, including catering, are covered by USA.

Host country principles provide for the supply of resources (fuel and others) that are necessary to carry out exercises in full accordance with previously signed Armed Forces Treaties.

Training of Latvian and American soldiers will be funded as military exercises – each country finances its own troops. The overall plan for the military exercises is being reviewed and coordinated between the two sides, Kundrāte reports.
