Modest Kolerov

Foreign Affairs Minister Edgars Rinkevics has decided to declare the former advisor of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin and former manager of Regnum news agency Modest Kolerov and deputy editor of Regnum Igor Pavlovky personae non gratae in Latvia.

This decision was made after competent Latvian institutions uncovered information about the secret activities of these two people in Latvia. Activities that were directed against the safety of the state, including its territorial unity and economic security, Foreign Affairs press-service reports.

Kolerov and Pavlovky both visited Riga in the beginning of June. They participated in the presentation of a book compilation of Kolerov’s articles «Пульсация империй» (Pulsation of empires). They also visited Livani and Daugavpils, where they met with local media and Daugavpils City Council representatives. The Nekā Personīgā (Nothing personal) program allowed the possibility that Russia is, probably, interested in strengthening the information platform in Latgale.

Kolerov is considered to be a horn of Russia’s interests in neighbouring countries. He never hid his opinion that Russia should support the linguistic referendum in Latvia. He also sharply commented on the statement of the President of Latvia Andris Berzins that legionnaires – are not war criminals.

Kolerov is also a persona non grata in Lithuania, Estonia and Georgia.
