Retail trade turnover up by 7.4%

This year (2012) in May compared to April, according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices, total retail trade turnover increased by 2.1%. Food retail trade increased by 3.1%, while non-food products – by 1.6%.
The total turnover of retail trade in actual prices, ignoring seasonality, increased by 7.6% in May 2012, compared with April 2012, according to the data from the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia.
According to calendar adjusted data on prices, the total retail trade turnover increased by 7.4% in May 2012 compared with May 2011. There was also a 4.9% increase in the food product category. Non-food goods sales increased by 8.6%, this includes fuel retail trade – by 3.3%.
When compared with the results of the same month of last year, the total volume of retail trade in actual prices, without taking into account the impact of calendar days, increased by 8.1%.
