People’s trust in the Parliament and the government has increased. Today there are much more favourable conditions to boost economy and promote justice. It is all thanks to Order 2 (dissolution of the Saeima) and a new parliamentary election, according to the Reform Party.

“To recognize the positive effect of the Saeima dissolution means to recognize the performance of Valdis Zatlers and the Reform Party. It goes without saying that none of the political rivals are willing to do that,” the party explains the exaggerated criticism of the Saeima dismissal.

The latest political developments show that when taking the decision ex-president Valdis Zatlers not only did not act selfishly but also placed himself in an unenviable position. Practically the entire political elite became his enemies. He would undoubtedly enjoy a more convenient life as the former president, but instead he is now in the middle of a cruel Latvian politics everyday life. So speculations about any selfish motives are not only false but also foolish, Reform Party says in a statement.

The party emphasizes that the Saeima Speaker Solvita Aboltina’s statements, which look for some selfish motives behind Zatlers’ decision, do not suggest dignified attitude towards the coalition partners. “It can also be assumed that the Saeima Speaker enjoyed a safer and more comfortable life in the previous coalition hand in hand with the Greens and Farmers Union, which is under the influence of Aivars Lembergs. Behind-the-scenes talks suggest that she would gladly return to the previous model,” the party adds.

A number of factors clearly indicate that the current Saeima and the government are more professional, more open and more active. The approval rating is up from 10% to 25%. Therefore, there is not a single fact supporting the Saeima Speaker’s accusations that the lack of political reforms leads to further frustration and an even bigger gap between politicians, according to the Reform Party.
