On Wednesday, 4 January, wind speed reached 25 m/sec in Kolka and 27 m/sec in Irbe Strait, according to data from meteorological observation stations.
Wind gradually turns from the north-east, bringing cold masses of air with them in the process. Air temperature in Aluksne dropped to -7.5° C in morning hours. Air temperature in Estonia’s north-east declined as far as -15° C.
In Kurzeme’s southern parts, wind speed has calmed down. This is because it is currently in the centre of an active cyclone. In most of Latvia, wind speed ranges between 12-17 m/sec.
