This year’s budget amendments are evident of unqualified work in the planning process of the 2012 budget, State Auditor Infuna Sudraba said in an interview to 900 seconds of LNT.

«All this is just a poor amount of work done in the past,»- says the State Auditor, commenting the protocol decision of the government meeting to divide 70 million LVL for different measures.

These funds will be used to cover different debts; also, the realization of additional funds will have only two-three months after amendments come into force – which is a very short time for effective expenditures.

«Latvia’s budgets are being compiled incorrectly – mathematically matching the numbers – as opposed to thinking about goals and the necessary steps to achieve them,»- Sudraba says.

The auditor also points that there are big problems in the government’s workforce system. I.e., the number of institutions and their workers is abnormally large. And the current pay is incapable of attracting competent specialists.

«One professional is worth more than three non-professionals,»- Sudraba says.

Hoping to change the situation in the country and the environment the State Auditor allows for the possibility to be involved in politics.

Even though Sudraba plans on considering the future of her career in the end of the year, when her term will come closer to its end, she does not say a categorical «no» to a political career.
