Baltic news, News from Latvia, BNN.LV, BNN-NEWS.COM, BNN-NEWS.RUIn the summer season, Baltic tourists prefer to travel by air to Asia and UAE. The most popular destinations reachable by land include Italy, Spain and Germany, according to information compiled by travel agency Estravel and car rent company Budget.

When picking their destinations, people from Baltic States most often prefer countries with a warm climate. «Thailand, UAE, Canary Islands and USA are all popular destinations. The summer season begins in May, when people mostly want to travel to Greece, Turkey and Spain,» says Estravel representative, adding that Baltic resident also often travel to neighbouring countries.

The choice of a destination depends on convenient flight routes and the overall safety level of the chosen destination. Estravel representative notes that the number of travel arrangements made to Egypt has declined. Instead, Baltic tourists more often decide to travel to United Arab Emirates.

International car rent company Budget reports that this year’s observations show that the most popular destinations reachable by land in Europe from Baltic States include Italy, Spain and Germany.

Budget’s representative Edijs Varsalietis explains that travellers value comfort and freedom while on vacation. This is why they often decide to rent cars for travel outside the country because it offers more freedom and independence than public transport.

«Renting a car provides freedom, a chance to plan out travel, as well as more flexibility during the trip. When planning a trip, it can be hard to predict where you might want to go when visiting a different country and how long you may decide to stay in any specific place,» explains Varpsalietis.

He adds: «Car rent is very popular in popular travel destinations in Europe, such as Greece and Spain. Modern convenience is that a car can be rented in one country’s office and then returned in another country – this offers more flexibility to travel plans».

According to Estravel representative – cruises are becoming more popular, and the number of people that pick them continues to increase. «The most popular cruises are the ones in the Caribbean Sea. This also increases the interest for travel to the eastern coast of USA.»

«USA is among the countries Baltic tourists visit more and more often every year. Tenerife has become a very popular travel destination for winter vacations. Montenegro has recently joined the list of popular destinations thanks to direct flights opening this summer. More exotic destinations, meanwhile, include Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos,» says Estravel representative.
