Swedbank: Latvian online stores flourish
Popularity of Latvian online shopping sites keeps growing, according to Swedbank.
Compared to 2010, the number of deals spiked 147% in 2011, the bank has concluded from performance of online sites that use Swedbank online banking services.
Businessmen appreciate the advantages the Internet offers. They are selling their goods and services online more and more often. In 2011, the number of contracts on online banking services climbed 160%.
Insurance, cosmetics and collective shopping sites are the most popular in Latvia.
“The fact the number of online stores is up significantly can be explained with the trend that businessmen follow the needs of customers, who want to shop when it is the most convenient for them. Besides, foreign companies have already shown people that online shopping offers a greater variety of products and cheaper prices,” says Laura Poca-Rozenbluma, Swedbank representative.
