Television show takes unexpected turn
The most popular German TV show Wetten, dass..? ended faster than expected this year on December 4 because one of the show participants seriously injured himself when performing a stunt.
Twenty-three years old student Samuel Koch tried to jump over a moving car, driven by his father. However, the jump ended with a heavy fall, after which the participant laid stock-still on the ground.
The show hosts, Thomas Gottschalk and Michelle Hunziker, called the ambulance and the show was stopped. It was later announced that Koch underwent surgery in the hospital. The young man was conscious after the fall and could feel his legs, reports The Local.
Wetten, dass..? is the most successful German show broadcasted on Saturdays live from various cities in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. During the show there are no advertising pauses, and it goes on for two hours, sometimes even longer.
The show participants are invited to perform a variety of unusual and difficult tasks, while the world-known celebrities, who are also invited to the show, can place bets on the outcome of the performed task.
This time, Wetten, dass..? guests were the British group Take That members and the American singer Justin Bieber, who after the accident cancelled their final performances.
