Baltic news, News from Latvia, BNN.LV, BNN-NEWS.COM, BNN-NEWS.RUThe 10th Riga Restaurants Week will be taking place throughout 10-16 October. Each restaurant week features more restaurants participating. This year, their number has reached 57. For a price of EUR 15 or EUR 20, visitors are offered an opportunity to enjoy special meals prepared by professional chefs from products found in Latvia.

Like last year’s spring season, this time attention will be provided to specific seasonal products – quince, venison and porcini. This will be aimed at celebrating the upcoming Riga-Gauja region’s acquired the title of European gastronomical region for 2017.

During the event week, visitors will be able to enjoy meals like Latvian grilled venison, served with parsnip-potato puree roasted onions, mushrooms and red wine sauce with juniper berries, venison tartare with potato foam, venison soup with Brussels sprouts and mushroom ravioli, mushroom soup and buckwheat, potato gnocchi with mushrooms in cream sauce. For dessert, why not try baked quince cream pudding with pears, tarragon cooked in syrup, lichens, who served with chocolate, burned quince, cranberry sorbet and chicory biscuits and other great treats?

A full list of participants and restaurants’ menus can be found at Live Riga’s portal www.LiveRiga.com/RRN. Visitors can reserve tables by calling up each restaurant.

«Riga Restaurants Week will be organized for the tenth time. We see that it has become a very expected event in Riga over the past four years. Numbers speak for themselves – the number of visitors reaches more than a dozen thousand on each event week. The week also tends to become more massive in scale. People to whom restaurant culture is part of their everyday life use this event. The week also helps people who are new to this culture to find their favourite restaurant in Riga,» – explains chairperson of Riga’s Tourism Development Bureau Vita Jermolovica.
