Traffic restrictions for Riga Marathon

Baltic news, News from Latvia, BNN.LV, BNN-NEWS.COM, BNN-NEWS.RUThe Nordea Riga Marathon will be held this Sunday, May 18th. With that, residents should keep in mind traffic restrictions when travelling to the capital. November 11th Waterfront will be closed off for traffic from the May 17the evening.

Riga City Council urges residents to be understanding of the necessary traffic restrictions and plan their travels in the city centre accordingly.

The police will close off November 11 Waterfront for all traffic for May 17th – 18th (except vehicles with special passes).

All traffic along all marathon routes will be closed off for 7:30-14:30 on May 18th.

The main marathon will run along the following streets: November 11 Waterfront (start), Eksporta street, Hanzas street, Pulkveža Brieža street, Elizabetes street, Krišjāņa Valdemāra street, Cable-stayed Bridge, Ķīpsalas street, Zvejnieku street, Enkura street, Ogļu street, Balasta dambis, Matrožu street, Zvejnieku street, Ķīpsalas street, Krišjāņa Valdemāra street, Cable-stayed Bridge, apgriešanās pie Slokas street, Cable-stayed Bridge, Krišjāņa Valdemāra street, Zigfrīda Annas Meirovica boulevard, Brīvības boulevard, apgriešanās pie Stabu streets, Brīvības boulevard, Kaļķu street, 11.novembra krastmala, Krasta street, apgriešanās pie Ogres streets, Krasta street, 11.novembra krastmala, Eksporta street, Hanzas street, Skanstes street, Zirņu street, Vesetas street, Mālpils street, Skanstes street, Hanzas street, Pulkveža Brieža street, Elizabetes street, Krišjāņa Valdemāra street, Cable-stayed Bridge, Ķīpsalas street, Zvejnieku street, Enkura street, Ogļu street, Balasta dambis, Matrožu street, Zvejnieku street, Ķīpsalas street, Krišjāņa Valdemāra street, Cable-stayed Bridge, turn at Slokas street, Cable-stayed Bridge, Krišjāņa Valdemāra street, Zigfrīda Annas Meirovica boulevard, Brīvības boulevard, turn at Stabu street, Brīvības boulevard, Kaļķu street, November 11 Waterfront (finish).

10 km marathon will run along the following streets: November 11 Waterfront (start), Eksporta street, Hanzas street, Pulkveža Brieža street, Elizabetes street, Krišjāņa Valdemāra street, Cable-stayed Bridge, turn at Slokas street, Cable-stayed Bridge, Zigfrīda Annas Meirovica boulevard, Brīvības boulevard, turn at Stabu street, Brīvības boulevard, Kaļķu street, November 1 Waterfront (finish).

5 km marathon: November 11 Waterfront (start), Eksporta street, Elizabetes street, Brīvības boulevard, turn at Stabu street, Brīvības boulevard, Kaļķu street, November 11 waterfront (finish).

If necessary, two-way traffic will be organized 8:30-14:30 on May 18th along the following routes:

-Kronvalda boulevard section from Muitas street to Elizabetes street;

-Dome Square;

-Skanstes street section from Hanzas street to Zirnu street;

– Zigfrīda Annas Meierovica boulevard section from Kaļķu street to Smilšu street;

-Eksporta street section from Riga passenger port to Hanzas street (for cargo and passenger buses).

On May 17th – 18th it will be restricted to park cars and drive along the following sections:

-November 11 Waterfront (Stone Bridge – Muitas street);

-November 11 Waterfront connecting street with Old Riga;

-Kaļķu street;

– Zigfrīda Annas Meierovica boulevard section (Smilšu street līdz Kaļķu street);

-Elizabetes street section (Kalpaka boulevard – Krišjāņa Valdemāra street).
