Typhoon threat in Shanghai: 200 000 evacuated

On Tuesday, August 7, Chinese authorities evacuated 200 000 people from Shanghai over threat of the approaching typhoon Haikui.
It is feared that the storm accompanied by heavy rain and strong winds could be the most powerful to hit the country since 2005. Back then, typhoon Matsa killed seven people.
The typhoon is expected to make landfall in Zhejiang province, just south of Shanghai, late Tuesday or early Wednesday, says the China Meteorological Administration.
Like in Shanghai, authorities have also evacuated 130 000 people in Zhejiang.
Shanghai has halted rail ticket sales for some coastal lines, while Zhejiang has called more than 30 000 ships back to port.
It should be added that Haiku will be the third typhoon in a week. The previous two claimed 23 lives, reports AFP.

On Wednesday, May 22, the Enterprise Register of the Republic of Latvia registered a joint company - Kredītinformācijas Birojs – founded by a number of Latvian commercial banks – SEB bank, Swedbank, Nordea, DNB bank, Citadele bank and ABLV Bank. The goal of the newly founded enterprise is to have it function as a credit bureau.
