Wednesday, May 16, the Senate of the United States of America unanimously rejected the 2013 budget plan of President Barack Obama, rejecting the alternative project of the republicans at the same time.

All 99 senators voted against Obama’s proposal to fix next year’s expenses at a mark of 3.8 trillion dollars (2 trillion LVL). Also, Obama’s budget project was also rejected by the United States House of Representatives in March, AFP reports.

Mitt Romney, who is practically a Presidential candidate of republicans, notes that Obama’s attempts to contain the budget deficit are not serious. Even his pre-election campaign headquarters notes that more than 500 Congress members are against Obama’s budget, and that no one wants to support it, that this President’s inability to take charge and fiscal responsibility is becoming clear to everyone.

In addition to that, according to democrats, such vote is pointless, because the agreement to raise the state debt was reached in summer last year.

The budget project proposed by Obama provides for budget deficit of around four trillion dollars (2.1 trillion LVL) until 2022. In order to fulfill this, it is planned to raise taxes for the rich and limit the expenses of state institutions.

Meanwhile, the alternative budget project, proposed by the republicans, is directed towards balancing out budget achievement in thirty years. They plan to achieve it, by lowering a number of social expenses and by reforming social insurance programs.

For three years now, the Upper house of Congress has not been able to approve the resolution about the budget, which will state next year’s spending ceiling and the official income projection, despite the fact that the Senate is controlled by democrats.
