Baltic news, News from Latvia, BNN.LV, BNN-NEWS.COM, BNN-NEWS.RUVentspils nafta terminals took into account the 4 November decision of Ventpils Freeport Authority to approve VNT’s initial construction initiative for the vapour recovery unit within the territory of Ventbunkers. Nevertheless, VNT notes that the decision made by Ventspils Freeport Authority is based on an outdated plan.

On 10 October, VNT informed Ventspils Freeport Authority of its decision to perform construction of the vapour recovery unit on its leased territory on Talsu Street 75. Cooperation with relevant parties has commenced in order to acquire technical requirements, as BNN was informed by the company.

VNT’s commitment towards the construction and use of the vapour recovery unit was and remains a priority for the company in the field of environmental protection.

More than nine months ago VNT and Ventbunkers submitted a joint application for the use of 600 m2 large territory to set up the vapour recovery unit. Ventspils Freeport Authority made up its mind and made the decision to allow the use of aforementioned territory for construction purposes on 4 November. Because of considerable hesitation from Ventspils Freeport Authority and insignificant progress in resolving this matter, VNT informed Ventpils City Council on 4 October of changes made to the location chosen for the vapour recovery unit. Changes were added in order to ensure more effective progress of the project. On 10 October, VNT informed Ventspils Freeport Authority of the intended changes.

After a nine-month long wait for a response from Ventpils Freeport Authority, VNT decided to build the vapour recovery unit on its leased territory on Talsu Street 75. Although the alternative if less beneficial, as the project needs to be adapted to the new location, vapour recovery unit’s function and overall technology will remain unchanged.

VNT has commenced cooperation with authorities and has submitted a request to them to be provided with technical requirements to be followed in the project’s realization. The project’s realization will also require the same amount of cooperation between VBU and VNT as was agreed upon at the end of 2015. Because a lot of time has been wasted because of bureaucratic procedures, it is not yet possible to estimate the possible final data for the project’s realization. The project depends heavily on permits and coordination with third parties.
