We are sort of a strange nation. We are the only ones to celebrate Cemetery Festival (Latvian: Kapu svētki). We are the only ones whose children dream of becoming politicians, millionaires and oligarchs, actor Juris Strenga addressed the people, asking rhetorically, «Shall we ask for help to Estonian governor or we will solve this ourselves?»

The event fell into three parts. At first, speeches evolved around thinking it all over and not collaborating with oligarchs, the second topic suggested telling about this also to grandparents. Similarly, also homepage manabalss.lv (Latvian: my vote) was unveiled. The web page will be used to gather signatures for various proposals and initiatives.

Finally, the so-called Corruption Block was burn down. Moreover, the participants also told goodbye to small oligarchs inside of them themselves.

Television host Baiba Sipiniece-Gavare stresses it is enough living with constant feeling of compromise. She also points out she has been invited to host an event in Ventpsils but the recent events have made her change her mind. Neither she, nor Valters Krauze will host any events in Ventspils while it is ruled by the «Little Baron». She addressed Ventspils Mayor, «Aivars Lembergs, I know you most probably have money all the people here taken together do not have. But, still, you have lost something you cannot buy back from for all the money in the world – your dignity.»

Also Viesturs Dule who up to now has collaborated with TV channel LNT added he will not do that any longer unless LNT clearly defines what it represents.

Musician Ilga Reizniece remined people about a Latvian goodness Gauss Mother (Mother of Greediness) popular for her most favourite expression that those who have enough are the true wealthy ones.

While, director and advertising specialist Aivars Čivželis announced he will no longer work with any oligarch parties, «Dear oligarchs, don’t worry there are still a couple of specialists focusing exactly on your field. I won’t name them… Stendzenieks and Liepnieks.»

Also musician Gustavs Butelis aka Gustavo encouraged people to stop justifying themselves. It all originates from within oneself and people need to take action, he said.

Magazine Ir editor-in-chief Nellija Ločmele pointed out burning of an oligarch inside of herself means liberation and actions directed towards what you believe in and see point in doing.

People also sang and watched smoke raising over the AB Dam as a symbol or corruption that is being burnt down.
