BNN offers you a selection of cultural events in Lithuania for the week during April 24 and April 30.

April 24-30:

Novus Music Incubator 2017 (Novus Muzikos Inkubatorius 2017); Arts Factory «Loftas» (Loft) (Meno gamykla-studija «Loftas») (www.menufabrikas.lt/en), Švitrigailos g. 29, Vilnius;

The festival continues to invite all to witness the rise of many young talented musicians, singers and bands to the coveted stardom. The project searches for new talents and provides an opportunity for musicians to perform on a professionally produced concert at the venue.

April 24-30:

International Music Festival «Coming back» (Festival «Sugrįžimai») (www.lmrf.lt/pages/sugrizimai); various Lithuanian venues;

The restoration of Independence in 1990, which saw more emigrant musicians visiting Lithuania, has spurred the Lithuanian Musician Support Fund to start organizing International Music Festival «Sugrįžimai». Ever since it invites young people who study and work abroad, as well as older emigrants of the second and third generation, to expose their creativity in the Motherland. The festival continues to shell out a raft of new talents in each concert…

April 25, 7 pm:

Concert «Grammy Winners» (Koncertas «Grammy laimėtojai»); Vaidila Theather (Vaidila teatras), A. Jakšto g. 9, Vilnius;

«Subtilu-Z» is a band that formed its unique, recognizable music nature and characteristics. The quartet of the extremely virtuoso crossover music style aims to reach an exceptional music sound quality and play everything in another way than it is written in the original notes. Now the band introduces its fourth album, «Grammy Winners».

April 25, 7 pm:

Singing Zurich Boys (Dainuojantys Ciuricho berniukai); Lithuanian National Philharmonic (Lietuvos Nacionalinė Filharmonija) (www.filharmonija.lt/en), Aušros Vartų g. 5, Vilnius;

Programme includes works by Heinrich Schütz, Johann Sebastian Bach, Tomás Luis de Victoria, Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Benjamin Britten.

April 26, 6.30 pm:

Opera «Carmen» (Opera «Karmen»); Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre (Lietuvos Nacionalinis Operos ir Baleto teatras) (www.opera.lt/en), A. Vienuolio g. 1, Vilnius;

Conductor – Robertas Šervenikas; director  -Arnaud Bernard (France); set designer – Alessandro Camera (Italy), costume designer – Maria Carla Ricotti (Italy), choreographer – Gianni Santucci (Italy), light designer – Vinicio Cheli (Italy), chorus master – Česlovas Radžiūnas;

The character of Carmen keeps returning: sometimes surrounded by the original spirit of the work, or put in today‘s context, ascetic or decorated with lush stage designs. Every time she achieves new incarnations, remaining true to her essence – she intrigues, rouses wonder, fear and admiration.

April 27, 6 pm:

Comedy «Play is not over» (Komedija «Žaidimas nebaigtas»); Klaipėdos Concert Hall (Klaipėdos Koncertų Salė) (www.koncertusale.lt/en), Šaulių g. 36, Klaipėda;

Aren’t you just too serious? The comedy by the hilarious «Domino» theatre actors and actresses will send you in an uncontrollable mode of snickering and giggling…

April 27-29:

«Alfavilnius» Festival («Alfavilnius» Festivalis); «Boiler Room Vilnius»- «Opium Room», Islandijos g. 4, Vilnius;

«I want to make people dance, of course, but I also want them to think,» said Robag Wruhme once and the quote pretty much sums up the essence of what the DJ and producer who once was part of the Wighnomy Brothers is unique for. The sleek combination of musical composition and linguistic (or semantic, really) equilibristics can be traced in two artist albums as well as gazilions of singles, remixes and mixes. Now «Boiler Room Vilnius» welcomes Robag Wruhme as the burgomaster of «Alfavilnius», a dystopian city…

April 28, 6. 30 pm:

Performance «Boris Godunov» (Spektaklis «Borisas Godunovas»); Lithuanian National Drama Theatre (Lietuvos Nacionalinis Dramos Teatras) (www.teatras.lt/en); Gedimino pr. 4, Vilnius;

Director – Eimuntas Nekrošius, set designer – Marius Nekrošius, costume designer – Nadežda Gultiajeva, composer – Faustas Latėnas;

«Boris Godunov» is a performance based on a historical play of the same title written by the Russian writer Alexander Pushkin. Based on historical facts, the play speaks of the period in Russian history, which is distinguished by an intense and cruel fight for power between influential rulers. Lithuania has a relation to the great writer as, in the end of the 19th century, his son Grigoriy Pushkin arrived in Lithuania to stay and live in Markučiai. He died there in 1905. The play mentions Lithuania a few times, some of the scenes take place close to the border of Lithuania.

The five-time Grammy winner, this time, will be drawing awes of Kaunas jazz lovers with her sole concert in Kaunas being devoted for the UNESCO-supported international jazz day…
