Ex-Prime Minister: political parties fight for power, not long-term growth

Around 1 500 public benefit organizations founded in Latvia

Until January 1, 2011, the public benefit organization status was effective for 1 485 organizations in Latvia, while in the first three months of 2011, public benefit organization status was granted to 47 organizations.

March minimum subsistence level - 173.51 lats

The minimum monthly subsistence level in Latvia has climbed up to 173.451 lats, growing 1.23 lats, compared to February and 9.37 lats, compared to March 2010.

Last year budget deficit - 7.7%, debt - 44.7% of GDP

In 2010 the general government budget deficit of Latvia hit 983.9 million lats or 7.7% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), while the governmental debt amounted to 5 693.6 million lats or 44.7% of GDP.
