Competition announced for the posts of Chairman and members of the Board of A/S Latvenergo

According to an advertisement published in Dienas Bizness, A/S Latvenergo announces a competition for the posts of the Chairman and the members of the Board.

The duties of the Chairman include managing and representing the Latvenergo concern and A/S Latvenergo in correspondance with the regulations of the Commercial Law and other legal acts. This has to be done on the national level as well as internationally. Another duty is to provide successful working and development, putting the main focus on the profitability, liquidity, competitiveness and security. The Chairman’s responsibility is to develop the economical, technical and social activities of the enterprise, as well as to maintain and manage the strategic development and the direction of the business support activities.

To apply for the position of the Chairman of the enterprise, the candidate must comply with the following requirements: the head of the enterprise must have a masters degree in business administration, economics, financial management or engineering. The candidate must have an experience of at least 5 years in a large company, namely, more than 500 employees in management; the understanding of electricity and heat generation, power transmission, distribution and marketing is obligatory. Knowledge and professional experience in energetics will be considered as an advantage. The candidate must be fluent in Latvian, Russian and English, as well as impeccable reputation is compulsory.

The duties of the members of the Board include managing and representing the enterprise in compliance with the commercial law and other legal acts nationally and internationally. To develop and monitor the technical policy of the concern, to manage the direction of the energy production, as well as to develop the economical, technical and social activities of the enterprise, to participate in the activities of the Board in correspondence with the Commercial Law and the Statutes of Latvenergo.

The member of the Board must meet the following requirements: the candidate must have at least second-level higher education in engineering, not less than 5 years experience in a leading position in a medium-sized enterprise, experience with sophisticated manufacturing techologies and in managing techical processes. Experience in energetics, good language skills and perfect reputation will be considered as an advantage.

CV and cover letter should be sent by 31 August, 2010. The selection of the applicants will be managed by the part of Fontes Grupa recruitment company SIA Aims International Latvia.

Kārlis Mikelsons un Aigars Melko are the former Chairmen of the company. Both of them were suspended from their posts due to the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (CPCB) report on illegal activity in the company; therefore, they are both currently in custody.
